How to make autominer wait for drones?

I bought a large mining ship and gave it 10 drones, set it to automine, but in addition to the usual issues (dumping 218 of its 2,000 potential cargo) it will not wait until the drones have docked before going to sell. Drones are not very fast. I had to cancel its travel drive manually and sit here letting them catch up.

In behaviour it does recognize that it has subordinates, but how am I meant to get it to... not leave them?
