I was under the impression that a ship's drone can turn the reacting entity hostile against the drone's owner as well?
I am not sure about the exact nature of what happens when a drone attacks a target with regard to the faction owning the drone and the faction owning the target, but from what I can tell, the faction's standings do not change, just the standings of the target that has been hit.

I also recall completing a "bad publicity" mission with the Skunk that made the target station turn hostile, and then tried it with a ROV drone and IIRC the station did not turn hostile to the Skunk in that instance.

I've found, that even with a Fulmekron or a Taranis in the zone of an enemy attacking my station/construction vessel, that combat went on continuously (I even left the game running when I went to bed, and the fight was still going on in the morning).

I have yet to see the conclusion end of any OOZ/OOS combat - this includes also using an Arrawn if I remember correctly, but i'll test that again if I get the opportunity.
With regards to the OOZ combat test, I did not wait for the completion of the battle, as I entered the zone when the Rahanas was at half shields (I was fairly happy I had the info I needed WRT the OOZ drone issue at that stage).

When I entered the zone a friendly PMC Tarannis killed the Balor rather quickly. Also to note: When in OOZ combat, Radar Returns don't depict Enemy and Neutral ships on the map (I couldn't see the Balor and was unaware that a Tarannis was on the scene until IZ).

In any case, I think both of these points warrant further investigation, as I don't believe my answers to them are 100% satisfactory, as they weren't the primary focus of my experiments at the time.
