I think op have right. But i think u still dont see whole picture. I think too , they first make this game for xbox 360. But that dont happend beacuse x360 cant handle this game. Look how this game is working on monsters i5/i7/sli/ssd/16 gb rams not even mention about 2 years old pc . I dont see how this will be working on 7 years consoles. So i think they have new plan. Xbox one and ps 4 like devs said is basically pc with close hardware/soft. Both companies non stop say how easy is write game on their console. We see muli platform is new motto . We constanly see games from console on pc and vice versa or have relase on all platforms beacuse they make this way more moneys. I think we are now piggy bank/ paying testers (we pay them 50 euro/dollars) to make relase on xbox one or ps4 or both.
I see CCP Eve Online and relase Dust 514 on PS 3 again.
I think Egosoft lie all the time and i never be trust them again. WE are for them free labor (modders, testers) and piggy bank when they need money.

But the first Xbox was 64-bit?Lorderan wrote:I think they canceled Xbox development because they ran out of RAM. Thats why you have a modified 32-bit exe that can run more than 4gb (hence the 64-bit requirement even though it is 32-bit). God they really think we're chumps don't they?
There's really no excuse. This sort of game isn't acceptable on consoles either.

Being influenced by Mass Effect isn't a bad thing, but Egosoft clearly doesn't have the design experience or the writing prowess to even go near that type of gameplay. I think what happened is they based their design choices on what they thought a broader audience would like, as opposed to the core space-sim fans.

I've been a fan of the X series since X3: Reunion, and yes, I've just made an account just to post this, but take a look at this picture: http://i.imgur.com/8H5fsDy.png
This was inside the shaderfx directory of 02.cat. Kind of supports the theory that this was originally intended for the Xbox 360...

I was going to say that DirectX inserts a lot of platform specific tags in templates, but those aren't showing up in any searches. Welp!yogs wrote:Do not believe their lies. Xbox360 markers in the shaders file.

You need to extract the contents of the 02.cat file. Try this:

If this theory is true, even to a small extent, we can forget about the game being "fixed" (as in mechanics changing). They will fix the bugs and we will end up with a decent console port with sadly shallow gameplay (for an X game).
The thing is, what next? Assuming they still have the resources and will to make an actual PC sequel to X3 or any kind of proper PC space sim, will it get enough sales to stand on its own? Will it be funded with the money gathered from Rebirth? What about all the people who feel entitled to a different game for the money they paid for Rebirth? I almost feel tempted to include myself there, but I guess I know better. Is the fanbase salvageable, that's what I'm wondering.
Or will they shift to making more approachable games (from the dev's standpoint), or move on to consoles?
And I say all this because I feel unable to go back to Albion Prelude, which I was enjoying right up until now. I formed in my mind a desire for a more polished, even streamlined version of X3, that retained and even expanded on everything it had. Is that possible? I want that game, but it doesn't exist.

a) standard console definitions for shaders in general (I dunno) or
b) proof that it was meant to be console game from the beginning.
Anyway, they really ****** it up. And they are all damn liars in the gaming biz.

I'd expect the defines to show up in Google if they were some kind of standard boilerplate.realsyntech wrote:This is eitheryogs wrote:Do not believe their lies. Xbox360 markers in the shaders file.

Honesty I doubt there will be another successful Egosoft release in the near future. With Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen (!) and Limit Theory on the horizon, there is no space (hehe) for another ****** up X-whatever Release.Swallen wrote:If this theory is true, even to a small extent, we can forget about the game being "fixed" (as in mechanics changing). I'm really hoping that someone with experience can take a crack at those files using the appropriate program to give a definitive answer whether it's simply a) or god forbid b), which would imply some pretty heavy maleficience on Egosoft's part. All I had to work with was notepad :-/realsyntech wrote:This is eitheryogs wrote:Do not believe their lies. Xbox360 markers in the shaders file.

Although being speculation, it's as I thought too....OP seems to state a plausible theory.
I can't believe i didn't see it in the video where he explains about the controller. Hilarious thing is the dev then finishes up by saying he will make another video explaining mouse controls. LMAO...where is that vid.. never came out.
55 euros down the drain..they could at least man up and offer every dissatisfied customer a free copy of albion prelude.
