Registering X3R: Gold on steam?

I bought the X3: Gold pack a while ago, and I today I was able to activate the X3:TC on steam. Is there any way to register my gold copy of reunion as well, or am I stuck playing that the old fashioned way?

As per the sticky thread at the top of the main X Universe forum, some versions of X3R do not come with registration codes and therefore cannot be registered on Steam. Normally if you have a code that came with a multi-game bundle, registering that code on Steam will make all games in the bundle available to you. However I can't guarantee that will work with every bundle as publishers of some editions have not gone through the proper process to ensure the codes they use are correct.

So what is to be done then when the publisher www.igs-games.com web site seems to be down I have this issue with the x3 gold version as well? Does this download you speak of enable you to activate the steam version of X3 Reunion or does the steam version of reunion need to be bought again on steam?

I'm not sure what download you are referring to. You've successfully registered your copy of X3TC on this forum so you should also be able to register that with Steam and download from there. With X3R you won't be able to register it with Steam, so you can either buy it again from there or simply use Steam's facility to add a non-Steam game to use Steam as a launcher for your disk version.

I thought it sounded like the steam issue could be solved here some how in the stickies section with its mention of restrictions to download access being lifted.

I can add the X3 reunion to steam true, but stuff like achievements can't get unlocked because its not the official steam version. Also I thought at one point that each X3 added options to each other but it seems all of them are stand alone in game content.

A fix to this issue of dvd copies of x3 reunion from the x3 gold boxes not getting steam codes would have been to look at each X3 Terran Conflict associated with the X3 Gold boxes and have their X3 Terran Conflict registration key unlock both X3 Terran Conflict and X3 Reunion.

I'd think there would be a record somewhere of what keys were placed in X3 Gold boxes if so it could get worked out with Valve.

PS I'm getting something strange with the post reply option in this topic I was only able to reply when clicking the button for it before loging in and it came up properly after log in, any other time while logged in and I get re directed to the main forum index. This isn't happening anywhere else and I'm using firefox.

I'm afraid the situation with regard to registering X3R with Steam is unlikely to change in the foreseeable future.

Your forum issue should be solved if you clear out your browser cache.

Yea I'm not holding my breath on it , I already bought it on steam. The price was low enough that the leftover funds from buying albion prelude ment I could get reunion.

As for the chache thingy I have firefox set to clear everything every time the browser closes so no idea how that happened. :/
