ah yes the BBC classic, to try to throw sh*t at you for what you said 20-30-40 or 50 years ago.

Along other classics like creative cut/edits.
Or doing interviews with 50x repeat of "so you're saying X <when you were clearly saying Y>" until they can get teenager style "Gotcha!" moment.

Truly remarkable example of modern day journalism at it's finest.

I also think this does more harm then good. As much as I despise Farage - that "incident" is not worthy the mention. It would be far more important to show the damage he is causing right now. Lamenting over childhood stuff only does one thing: the journalist looks clumsy and helpless.

As I said it was not a BBC news story, it was about a guardian article if you don't want to look at the BBC they do link to the original Guardian article and by the by if you have a legitimate issue with a news publication be it online on air or in a newspaper then do not hesitate to complain the OFCOM about it even if you are not from the UK if your complaint is legitimate they will take action on it no matter who it is.

As for the article itself, it isn't so much about what he said or did 50 years ago, it's more about his response to his actions from 50 years ago, even he is not denying those allegations. What he is doing is trying to make out that it was okay for him to say and do those things all those years ago without any kind of accountability then or now. It shows character, as anyone no matter who they are if they did the things he is allegedly done they would at the very least said it was bad of me, but it's not who I am now, no he said I did it behind their backs so it's okay for me to do them, which probably means he sees nothing wrong in being racist, and he still does the same thing now, just more behind people backs.

Doesn't matter, it's still a nonsence - imagine if you would have to explain yourself or apologize for a meme you did today, 50 years from now.

Just as chew-ie said - this create the impression that noting more important happend in regards to him in more sane and recent time window.

Doesn't matter if it's Guardian either - actually it's even worse - I remember the era where credible news company would check the sources several times over and would be ashamed to repost/reuse tabloid trash - I'm not even that old.

Jakarta is now the worlds largest city. Population: 42 million (that population is slightly larger than that of Canada). This is probably going to be a bit of an issue in the coming years, considering Jakarta is 8m (26ft) above sea level and regularly looks like this.

Going to disagree to a point. He may have been as young as 13/14, and yes, people do change their opinions, views and more as they grow.
But if he's the future leader of this country, then you want someone to be representing the entire population, and it is absolutely correct to challenge him upon that. You want someone willing to engage and be honest as well.

How can a multicultural society have any faith (if he becomes the leader) that he's not anti semitic, racist, and going to form up divisive, targeted policies to ostracise segments of a population? He has exhibited those behaviours to such a degree teachers were worried and discussed it as points for why he was not suitable for positions of authority/leadership (prefect). Smoke/Fire/Rotten core and so on and so forth.

At what point does "laughing off questions" about someone's past become indicative of an issue with their honest, transparent, reliability and trust? He'd be receiving briefings of highly classified material, and responsible for tens of millions of individuals, as well as a moral responsibility towards billions... "It isn't a real issue though!!" some may say - as long as he doesn't actually still have those exact same views. Hence the questioning and investigations. He can't even answer simple questions about it though.

Worrying.

What qualities do we want in a leader? Oh, wait a minute, he's buddies with Trump. As long as he's breathing, he's a chance of being elected and we'll just do as the US does - live with the repercussions.

call me old fashioned but I don't remember a single racist thing I said, looking back 20-30 years

and if my memory is faulty, then I will waste no time to cement how much of a trash it is to say something racist

German Chancellor Merz continues to insult the countries that host him. First he made headlines by shitting on Betel in Brazil, now he is complaining about Angola not providing him with his preferred type of bread.

Just imagine you'd invite this guy over for diner. He comes in, doesn't bring a gift, then begins to criticise your furniture, complain about the food and on the way home he tells everyone how dreadful he found the experience. I really hope other countries stop inviting him, the guy is such an embarrassment.

Two Internet news

A US State (Missouri) is requiring adult content web site to authenticate/validate government id. People might be turning to less known VPNs.

ISPs in courts versus music industry. The issue is piracy and if they are liable for it.
AI industry is worried they might be then liable for copy right infringement as well.

So, FIFA has announced the price of Tickets for next year's world cup. If you are lets say an England fan, and they went all the way to the final I suspect you will probably need somewhere in the region of £10 - £15 thousand for the tickets alone to all the matches as you can imagine people are not too happy about the cost and more than a few are cancelling their plans to go. There are three tiers and the price for a Final ticket alone will cost:

'Supporter value tier' at £3,119 ($4,185).

'Supporter standard tier' at £4,162 ($5,560),

'Supporter premium tier' is £6,615 ($8,860)

Price of corruption. No doubt a certain person will be pocketing some of that, after he got that phoney peace prize. I would have assumed a few would have cancelled also due to the social media changes as well.

Hopefully, there will be a lot of empty seats and egg on FIFA's face over this.

The finale of the Fifa World Cup 2022 was watched by 1.5 billion people worldwide. For 2026 there was a 24 hour period in which 5 million people tried to buy tickets. The idea of lots of empty seats is very unrealistic. Ticket prices would have to be far higher before there is a meaningful number of empty seats.

Perhaps it's a deliberate ploy to filter out undesirable poor people, so that wealthy football fans can enjoy the match without having to mingle with the plebs. ;)

Continuing my series on schools failing to deal with AI technology:

A 13 year old in Louisiana became the victim of a horrible crime when classmates used Ai to creat deep fakes of her. The girl complained to the school and police but nothing came of it. The girl then attacked a boy while he was showing the picture to a friend, leading to her getting expelled for it.

Eventually the police got around to charging the people who were creating and distributing the pictures:

Nvidia releases DLSS 4.5. In the recent nvidia app update it's no longer part of beta. Meaning it's now in the regular presets after k for everyone. L and M reduce performance especially on 2000 and 3000 series cards vs preset k. So if you get large fps reductions you might want to just set the model to only use model k.
