[X3 Reunion] Really stuck in Nyana's Hideout asteroid mission

Post by ptb_ptb »

To be blunt my piloting skills and game reflexes are really terrible and I don't think I'll ever be able to do the 'run through the asteroid in Nyana's Hideout chasing daddy' mission. I need help. Badly.

Is there anyway to turn off clipping temporarily?

Can the timer be nerfed?

Any way to fool the computer to thinking I've done the mission?

Any and all help gratefully received.

I know _what_ I'm supposed to do, it's just not going to happen with me in the ship's cockpit. At least not without cheating. So pointing at a guide that says "fly fast and use the strafe drive" isn't going to do me any good.

IIRC you'll need to be in a fast M5 to succeed.
Maverick: Requesting permission for flyby.
Air Boss Johnson: That's a negative ghostrider, the pattern is full.
Goose: No. No, Mav, this is not a good idea.
Maverick: Sorry Goose, but it's time to buzz a Split.
Split: Split now give you .... Aaaarrriiiigh.

That is actually incorrect, you need a very well balanced ship, it needs to be rather fast but its more important for you to not hit the walls.

Only way I found that helped me back then was to increase gamma to max so you can see the path more clearly. Then make sure you accelerate asap but absolutely make sure not to hit any walls, its safer and faster to slow down a bit.

MFG

I was in an illegally enhanced M5, but I think the speed is set to a fixed maximum for this mission anyway.

In my case I just hit the wall seven times or so then the Khaak arrive and blow up 'Midnight Sun' (or whatever the ship's name was).

Hi.

Iirc,your ship is on autopilot when you enter the asteroid.
Disengage it as soon as you enter asteroid.

To clarify, I don't hit the wall because my ship is on autopilot. I hit the wall because my reflexes suck and the difficulty level of the obstacle course / tunnel is too high for me.

Darn it. I can't even do the Bala Gi missions because I can't dock at the Paranid Shipyard. :-(

You could upload one of your saves, post the link here and let somebody else play the mission for you.

It would be great if someone would, but it's a bit of an imposition. If there's a volunteer I'll upload a suitable save. (I'd need to get a standard ship in place so they don't have to much about to get my custom ships included in their game).

Without the same mods/scripts as you, your save may not run on another's different game setup no matter what ship you fly personally. Normally only vanilla saves can be reliably exchanged and tested. No harm in trying though.

IIRC, the only mods I have installed are
* lv cheats
* emp
* personally modified ships

If you have the cheat scripts try turning off collisions, god mode and/or increasing the speed/turning of your ship.

I think the link is on this page

I don't think it includes a script to turn off collisions. Although that would be exactly what I need.

God mode and enging/rudder super tuning won't help in this case because it's not the ship that's at fault - it's the pilot. :lol:

That script package is probably older than the script engine command to change collisions.

I'd guess that a oneliner script run on your ship could do the deed:

Code: Select all

[THIS] -> ignore collisions: [TRUE]
However, that would probably allow you to fly through walls (unintentonally). I make no guesses on how the hardcoded mission code will react to such "out of the box" situation.

It's certainly worth a try. And flying through walls would probably work just fine - I just need to find the end of the twisty tunnel and fly back inside there. :)

Unfortunately it seems that

Code: Select all

<RefObj> ignore collisions: <Var/Number>
was introduced in X3 Terran Conflict. At least I can't find it in the X3R script editor anywhere.

:gruebel: Strange, I thought I did find that from a X3R script.

.gif or it didn't happen. :lol:

Seriously, there's a hint that it might have arrived in X3R 2.5 patch (in German, anyway)

But I still can't find it in my computer.

I'm afraid I gave up and restarted the game in "No Story Plot" mode. I should be able to get the Bala Gi missions this way and I plan on seeing if I can actually make a sensible amount of money in a reasonable time in X3R.

(In X2 I had 90+ factories and around 300 TS Ships and I was still at barely break-even if I included all the replacement ships I had to buy. I cheated like crazy to get the money to build that lot!)
