Howdy,
A few questions about hidden stuff;
1) Does the randomisation add roughly the same number of hidden ships/containers as there were in X3TC? Ie,, will there be roughly 19 hidden ships and xx hidden containers? Or does it only add a small number of hidden things?
2) Is there a chance of it adding anything bigger than an M3/hauler?
3) Are the hidden ships/containers confined to a certain distance to the solar systems 'core'? Ie,, I don't have to fly 200km from 0,0,0 coords to find a ship do I?
4) What method do you use for finding them? Is it simply a case of getting a triplex scanner, M5 and keeping an eye on the scanner while flying manually about?
5) Whats the syntax for hidden containers on the scanner? Is it just the name off the item they contain?
I'm aware I can cheat and find them but I don't want to do that. I've probably explored about 1/6th of the AP universe now and haven't found any abandoned ships, although I may have missed some...

The number of items is the same or roughly the same in all starts, only locations vary.
All items previously existing in TC are now gone from the game. Now you can only find Khaak ships (m5,m4,m3 and one m6). Items such as weapons and missiles found in those ships cargo also differs from game to game. Also there are few "pandora" crates with rudder optimisation and engine tunnings inside them.

Only Khaak ships? That sucks a bit :/
At least it'll make spotting them on the scanner easy.
Edit: Actually another question. By any chance is there a mod that randomises the freebie ship/container placement in Terran Conflict?
Alternatively is there a mod for Albion Prelude that changes the way the freebie ships randomise? (ideally one that means they're not just all khaak ships).

There is a small chance you get something decent with your game. I guess the developer intent that you roll this dice several times by starting a new game and running EJs script on it46_n_2 wrote:in my game there was a falcon prototype as well as the khaak ships... donno if it was a glitch or not....
also no way it was bailed by me fighting it as it had a few shields and guns on it and was at like 90 something hull....

there is a chance of certain other ships other than just khaak, but i think its m3's that can be bought. iirc i had an adv perseus...
only other things i am sure of is that there will always be 1 khaak M6. how many weapons it has is another matter, first start mine had a single alpha kyon, second one had 11 beta kyons
there will always be the same number of pandora crates (is it 4 of each i aint sure off the top of my head) but the value of the rudder/engine tuning inside will vary from 2-5?
not sure of distance, i know i had an engine tuning i would never have found unless i used EJ's find wares script. it was way way off the ecliptic in maelstrom.
only vanilla way to find them is to search via ship with Triplex scanner, id drop a lot of adv sats though because the crates will vanish when they move out of scanner range so it a fairly small window you have to find them, and bare in mind the NPC's can pick them up as well, so in a way your on the clock to find them, only small bonus i can give you if your not willing to use EJ's script is that iirc pandora's are restricted to Pirate and unknown sectors, ships on the other hand can be anywhere if im right.

On purpose, there appears to be some salvage activity script with some pirate ships. I got one crate snatched right in front of me and another one was gone by itself after I ignored it for several game days using it for testing my locator script.popej wrote: Npc's can pickup crates!?
