[X3AP] Nobody can dock at trade stations, including me. New Evidence 24 Jan.
- Operating system
Windows 7 x64
- CPU, graphics card, memory, sound system
i5 3.4ghz, ATI 5870 1gb, 8gb ddr3, Asus Xonar D1
- game version (i.e. 2.0.02)
Albion Prelude 1.0 latest from Steam
- exact nature of the problem, and any error message involved
No ships are allowed to dock at trade stations. Docking with all other station types is fine. Personally tested Argon and Boron trade stations.
Screenshots:

http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/64875 ... 8EBA7D32C/
- sector location in the game and scenario
any with a trade station
- type of game played, e.g. plot or non-plot
Humble Merchant startup, appx 30 minutes played
- whether you have any scripts/mods installed
Bonus pack for AP (don't know how to uninstall, I'm new at this)
On the sector map you can watch ships circle and "bounce" off the trade stations. Lots of ships want to dock but none of them actually get that far, including me. You can fly up to the docking arms and can see that it's not full, and is in fact empty of ships (see screenshots).
This game has only been played for between 30 minutes and an hour, so restarting isn't very much of a problem but I'm worried that it will happen again. Starting a new game allows me to dock at the trade station in Heron's Nebula just fine so it's not happening to all saves. What's going on and how can I fix/avoid it?

Yes this a known occasional TC issue too. The circling ships round the docks are preventing other ships from docking due to collision detection. Their presence also disables your use of the Docking Computer, Auto-dock, or request for docking permission. You can also get ships still yet a way off entered into a docking queue which ties up apparently empty docking arms. Further, many stations will not allow more than one Player-owned ship to be docked at a time while the Player is IS. Effectively it is a gridlock at the station.
Your best bet is to go OOS and let the NPCs dock and clear without collision detection for a while. In short, don't go back IS until later on.
Moving to Universe forum.

This bug just became a huge problem for my progress. As far as I can tell, I can only buy satellites from trading stations, but I can't dock at them. Not a single Argon, Boron, or Teladi station has let me dock, and I've tried every one of them that I've found.
So I guess it's down to starting a new game and using cheat scripts to give myself the money/ships I've earned up to this point, and praying the bug doesn't resurface.
On the subject of cheat scripts, can someone point me at the right forum thread(s) to educate myself?
EDIT: Oh and I just discovered that my sector trader isn't immune to the problem either, so there goes the possibility of automated trade without purpose-breaking babysitting.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one having this bug. I spent ages making monies to get a few ST/UT traders up and running, but as soon as I sent them all off they all just got stuck indefinetly trying to dock at trading stations. So, I can't use them. I'm about 14 hours in and I'd like to not have to restart, especially if I'm only going to face this bug again

What are your traders trying to get to the docks for? What are their current actions? Surprised there's anything at a trading station causing that much demand

With two independent player reports now of the same issue, I'm tempted to move this back into Tech Sp though hopefully with a slightly more explicit title mentioning X3AP and Bug. I suspect that links to demonstrative savegames from AuroraeEagle and Harvest would be very handy.

@ AuroraeEagle: Upload to a reputable fileshare site and just post with a link to your vanilla gamesave from there. See what others are using such as here.
@ Harvest: If you are now as heavily modified in X3AP as your S&M forum thread indicates then no need to bother with a savegame and we really cannot help further with your docking issues unless you are still seeing it in pure vanilla too.

this would more be like the 6th / 7th reporting of the same issue in a short span of time =PAlan Phipps wrote:With two independent player reports now of the same issue, I'm tempted to move this back into Tech Sp though hopefully with a slightly more explicit title mentioning X3AP and Bug. Just saying it forward: I give everyone 2 posts to make good, in context posts(proper english, as always, is optional). After that I'm ignoring what you have to say in that thread that's directed to what we previously were talking about.

@ Catra: Fair enough, but to my knowledge it has not been reported in Tech Sp outside of this thread and wherein it could initially have been read as from normal collision avoidance, hence why I moved this to Universe. If AuroraeEagle posts a vanilla gamesave link I will move it back there, hopefully for Egosoft attention.
