Is it possible to change language in x2?

i can buy a physical copy on the island i'm at right now, but it's in spanish I believe.

otherwise I can just buy the english version off steam BUT my internet here is crap that's why I rather get a phsyical copy and just change it to english if it's allowed during the install? or if there is a patch to change it over.

If you navigate to your X2 The Threat folder in your program files, you will find 'lang.dat'.

Open this file in a text editor program such as Notepad. With French, the file should contain the numbers '33'. Change this to '44' and this should set the game to English.

good timing cause I went ahead and bought it 9 was only roughly 10 bucks in usd)

but now it's telling me textidnotfound; i think this only installed the spanish (actually it looks portuguese).

Wait, is there a UK language? or any other number to try? this "might" be a european version and the language is german lol. Trust me the place i got it from isn't exactly a mainstream game place. more like a flee market lol

at least my friend said it looks like german, but i think it's screwed up cause i need the windows 7 language packs.

44 is English (not country specific). Other possible numbers are listed in this FAQ article.
Did you already update your game to the latest version (1.5)? If not, have a look at this FAQ article and download and install the patches in the correct order. The patches contain different language files (including the english ones).
