Transporting stations in X3TC .v3.0

Post by Dahori »

I'm trying to buy an Ore Mine in the shipyard in Argoa Prime. The "voice" keeps telling me I need to find a Kea class ship. I think that's what it's saying. Is this correct?

You need a TL to buy and build stations.

You can either buy or hire one.
If you are going to buy one your best choices are the Argon or the Terran ones.

u need a TL class ship....a argon supply mammoth would do the trick click comms and then talk to captain then say u want him to transport something after u hire him ask him to dock at shipyard then nuy the station and have him go to the sector u want the station in.
X3 terran conflict is the best game in the world next to supreme commander 1 ;)

A little more detail on the use of NPC TL's

I've found there is an Argon Supply Mammoth floating around in Argon Prime...usually within 20km of the Shipyard. Here are the steps to obtaining his services to buy and place your station.

1) Comm the TL - select 'Captain'
2) Choose the option that you want him to transport something for you. He will respond with his 'fee'..I've found this is usually 3k per jump gate passed.
3) After you have him hired, comm the Captain again and tell him to dock at the Shipyard of your choice..remember the :per jump fee' if you're tight on cash
4) Once the TL docks, you should have the option to purchase the stations, provided you have the required rep. Buy the station and the screen changes so you can select the ship to carry it. Select the Mammoth and leave the station. **Note** Make sure you don't need any freighters for this station before you leave.
5) Once away from the station, comm the Captain again and you have a few options. You can have him follow you, you can have him move to a position in any sector, or you can tell him to drop your freight.
6) Once you and the TL are at the location you want your station parked, comm the Captain and tell him to drop your freight. You will be given a choice of what station to drop (if you have more than 1 on the ship). Once you are in 'overhead' view with your station blinking...you can use the numpad keys to move the station placement to where you want it. 7) Once at the correct position...click on the blinking station and your station will be placed. You will get a message from the Captain and he will fly away (unless there is another of your stations in the hold)

**IMPORTANT**
If you are tight on cash and you can't afford the transportation costs..the captain will sell your station and you're SOL. so make sure you have the cash before you jump too far.

Once your station is placed, make sure to transfer at least 200k to it for operating costs and set at least 1 freighter to buy materials and sell the end products (unless you are making the products for yourself)..then you need to set the station to not trade with NPC's.

Good luck

Note that you can only get an M class Ore MIne in AP. Go to CSE for the (better) L class. Big is best for mines, remember. :)

When you get enough cash to buy your own TL and equip it with a jumpdrive, you can do plenty of build missions in no time and your bank account will explode :D

Thanks Guy's.
Thanks for all the assist. I got sucked in, when it said Kea class I was thinking a Teladi class Kea, instead of anything in that range. :headbang:

It doesn't say "Kea" class--Kea is not a TL. It says "TL" class.

One more thing, hope that the TL doesn't explode when it undocks from the shipyard (this can happen from time to time) if it does, then you'll have to go back and do it all over again (save game)

Hired TL's don't use jumpdrives so it can be a slow journey
