Mission 15- Paranid Ore mine

I'm on the mission where you pay the paranid guy to get you an ore mine. I've had the a message from the station manager saying that they're currently loading the mine onto their ship. Its been a over an hour and nothings happened. Flying to the sector the mines supposed to be in (priest rings I believe?) theres a TL just sat next to the asteroids doing nothing.

I've checked the forums and this problem has been reported several times before, however the response always seems to be to reload to an earlier save and try again. Unfortunatly I don't have an earlier save at this point, is there any way to fix this short of restarting the whole game?

Have patience. iirc, it took over 5 game hours (maybe more) last time I did it.

I have just bought the game on GOG during the special offer and am enjoying it! :D

But first things first... OP mentions not having a save file. This is bad. I recommend saving regularly. Once one hits save file #19, make a copy of the save file folder: Go to the Documents\Egosoft\ folder, copy the save-folder and rename it into something like save01. One can continue playing and save the game starting at 0, 1, 2, ... again. This way, one will have more than the 20 save files.

To the mission... It was a head scratcher for me. I had to run it ~10 times until I finally figured out how to come out without a bug. There are a couple of issues with this mission.

1.) When one is not in the system while the mine is build, then the player's standings with the Paranid will be stuck forever at 0%. Even when one kills pirates in Priest's Pity will the standing not go up, and the game will say one is now a "Friend", pay a bounty (when one has a licence), but the standing with Paranid will forever be stuck at 0%. Killing multiple pirates will continue giving the same standing message about becoming a "Friend", which is a clear sign of the standing being stuck at 0% as seen in the player statistics.

The only times when it did not show this standing bug was when I was in the system Priest Rings and before the mine was build and waited for it to appear. It will then show a weird animation (it is trying to show the station, but because the system is full of gas clouds is there nothing to see but gas). When I waited outside Priest Rings while it was building the mine, then it repeatedly caused my standings with Paranid to be stuck at 0%, and of course there was also no animation of an invisible mine in gas clouds.

Edit: I am not sure about this. It is possible the game forces the standing back to 0% at certain points in the story. Even though one can increase it by killing pirates while the mine is running, is the standing set to 0% again once one talks to Saya Kho at Emporer Mines again. So it is possible the gain in standings is perhaps the bug here. It is confusing.

2.) After receiving the seed (and the funny dialogue with the Paranid mine director) and travelling back to Emporer Mines will the game stop the ship on entry right at the gate on exit. One can turn the view, but not move. Acceleration and Strafe controls will not work, and one is stuck at a very low speed, e.g. 10m/s, right on the gate. This is caused by the dialogue between Julian and Saya Kho where it shows the video sequences of the two. If a ship comes through during the dialogue, will it blow up the player's ship.

The only way I avoided blowing up was by turning the view by 90 degrees to a side and hoping the slow speed will be enough to move the ship off the gate before a ship comes through.

Once the dialogue finishes and the briefing about the father has been shown, can one accelerate and fly the ship again. It is not a major issue, but still annoying, especially when one has had other troubles. So can take it a long time until the seed gets mined, the mission dialogues are unclear (I used the walk-through to figure out what to do), and there is this standing bug, too.

I hope this information is helpful to others, and please let me know if I have missed something.

Nice hints and tips there, but a 16 year long-dormant thread was probably not the best place for them. It wasn't even clear at first which X game was being talked about since the thread is so old.
