Thanks fellas. So does this mean I have to go to Teladi space to get the Best Buys/Best Sells?
How do I know what station is owned by whom? I think I read somewhere that it shows somewhere on the trading screen but I am not sure.
If someone can direct me to the BEst Buy/Best Sells EQ dock I'd be happy...for now.

CEO's Buckzoid and Seizewell. If you know where Queen Space is take these gates.
If I were you I would take the time to explore a little in that area if you have not already.

Thanks. I thought I could buy one in the Argon space EQ. Now I know I am wrong so I will take your advice. I need to learn a LOT more and to explore a lot more too.
This game is HARD to learn!!!
I came THIS close to dumping it...several times.
My wife is buying me a joystick for Christmas and maybe I can "learn" how to map the keys to it. Another learning curve.
My problem is trying to remember so many commands. At least I can now dock manually now!
I just keep trying this and that and then restarting because I have to. I can't seem to figure out what to do next so I am overwhelmed.

Thank you. I really appreciate the immediate responses I receive here.
My problem was that I was under the impression that the EQ dock in Argon had those BB/BS extensions.
Also, I have found it to be a pain looking at the trading screens and trying to figure out what all that information means. I am learning though. How in the world do I figure some things out in the beginning?
For example, say I go to a station and I see that it needs say, e-cells. Okay, do you write it down on a piece of paper by hand that so and so station needs e-cells then try to find another one that sells them? THEN buy them and make your way back there?
How do OTHER people play this most complicated but cool game?
I like the music and sound.
I like the feeling of even a MINOR accomplishment.
My first was last night when I learned how to remove the equipment from the Discoverer and put it in my ship. Then I learned how to sell the ship to a shipyard. But to sell it a shipyard do I have to be present at the shipyard WITH IT at the time?

you can sell to a ship yard just like you sell anything else you just cannot be in the ship that you are selling.
As far as what each station needs I just play around with this.

I spend most of my time just wandering around in my fighter, slowly upgrading with some good captures and taking several fight missions. I don't usually have any other ships following me around when I do that such as wingmen or backup.PaulVette wrote:How do OTHER people play this most complicated but cool game?
While I'm doing that, I save money for the usual Spaceweed complex. This time I'm going for a fully self reliant one in Tears of Greed. Not going too well at the moment as I don't have enough at the moment for the large Crystal fab and other supporting factories. My current Spaceweed complex with Solar Power Plant and Dream Farm keep running out of crystals!
I'll go and do some corporation missions soon, maybe start the plots too as I feel like scooting around the Solar System. I think the most surprising thing for me though, is the amount of stuff that I still haven't seen. I keep bumping into ship variations I didn't realise existed.
Most ships can take multiple, and it keeps getting incrementally better until maximum. The upgrades also get more expensive per increment though.PaulVette wrote:Exactly how many Rudder Tunings do I need, ditto for Engine Optimizations? Just one?

That's one of the best parts of this game - there isn't a single correct way to play. There's probably as many strategies for playing this game as there are people on this forum. Of course, that's partly the reason that it's so difficult to come to grips with.PaulVette wrote:How do OTHER people play this most complicated but cool game?

Boy! Thanks for all your answers! What a great forum!
Even someone from Down Under!!
Now I can see from your answers that this appears to be not only complex but designed to be so open-ended that there could possibly never be an ending.
I am still in the infancy stage. Really. It looks so easy when reading these posts or looking at the FAQ's or Stickies but when I turn on that PC I built (I am on my Mac right now) and I see space and all those asteroids and stuff I get kind of like stage-fright. I freeze up. I don't even know what to do first. I mean, the very first thing to do. So I play a little, buy some cargo, find I can't sell it then quit and start another game. And on and on it goes till five hours have passed and if I'm lucky I will have learned SOMETHING.

Here is another site that might help you. It is a map of the universe. Some people don't like to use maps because it spoils it for them but I never really minded. It seems like anyone with half a mind would be able to go to the local trading station and pick up a galactic map. At lest that is how I RP it.
This is a little more than a map in that is will allow you to see where most stations are at. At lest at the start of the game any how.
IMO print one out for yourself.

Thanks, but I notice it says it is for Reunion which I have never played. Same?
Another question.
You mentioned that you could go to a local trading station and pick one up. Is this possible? What are they called in the game? Doesn't it already have the Sector and Universe maps? Is this different?
Thanks.

Personally, I've never had a problem with this (not insulting you here, read on). If you were to look through my entire posting history on the forum, I have never asked questions about the basic functionality of the game. I picked it all up easily, I'm a natural at combat and capping, I have no trouble exploring and setting up for manual/MORT trading, and IIRC from two years ago, I have no problem with UTs, factories and complexes, either.PaulVette wrote:I am still in the infancy stage. But my personal stumbling block (as attested to in a recent and rather embarrassing thread of mine) is actually doing manual trading in a game where that's my stepping stone to factories, UTs and complexes. Hardly anyone else has a problem with it once they're equipped for it, but I feel like an idiot trying to figure out what's going on.
So I know the feeling.

Some people are just better at this game than others.
I am a go-to guy for Flight Sim as I have been in aviation my entire life. Mechanic, pilot, Corvette restoration, you name it.
I am just having a little trouble learning this game. As so many have posted, this game has a learning curve steeper than Everest.
Trying to memorize what all the abbreviations mean, trying to get a handle on buying/selling, trying to get a handle on everything is a little difficult for me right now. I am slowly getting it. I know you do not mean to put me down, perhaps you picked it up faster than most. I know I will get the hang of it eventually. Sometimes it just seems daunting.
I wish someone would create a YouTube video of the most EXTREME basic things. Like what all the codes mean on a trading screen for example.
The game can lose its pleasure in a hurry for me if I have to wade through the manual trying to find what this or that means.
I am slowly printing out edited versions of the posts and the ApricotSlice handbook.
There is a lot of information to wade through.
So if I can memorize the five volume set of Corvette factory service manuals I can do the same with this game.
Baby steps.
So please excuse me if I ask questions. All I want is information so I can enjoy this game. If there is no enjoyment for me then this is torture and I will just dump it and move on. There is such a thing as too much frustration.

Now, some more STUPID questions.
1) How do I pick up items found in space? DO I need an extension?
2) Why does the reticule flash in sequence on the left and right sides sometimes?
3) What does the "TC" mean at the top of the trading screen? I have looked everywhere, including the manual for this.
4) How do I know what race a station is affiliated with?
5) CAN a race have a station in the other race's sectors?
