Possible influences in the current X3:TC models/sectors
Being a bit of a pulp SF collector, I've got a large collection of books with covers by Chris Foss.
When I'm flying around Terran space I always get the impression that I'm flying around the kind of scenery that usually appeared in his artwork, particulerly the massive Terran stations, and the Earth Torus. Even the ships look like they have that Chris Foss influence.
Then there's the Paranid. Their ships always struck me as being similar to those of the Centauri from babylon 5.
Again referring to Babylon 5, the Khaak destroyers have a distinctly 'Vorlons' look to them. Or they do to me at any rate.

It certainly does, but that was a model created for XTM that egosoft bought, so I didn't include that particuler reference.Mr-Ten-Percent wrote:The Khaak Corvette looks just like the Shadow ships from B5

Agree with N-S. I thought it was out of place in XTM, and was surprised to see it in TC. It simply doesn't match the 'crystalline' nature of all the other Kha'ak ships. Looks like it belongs to a totally different species.

I also think the Terran stations owe a lot to 70's sci-fi shows like Battlestar and Buck Rogers, all the white and red reminds me of them.

The Kha'ak Corvette is very similar to the Shadow Battlecrab.

the old X2 argon titan looks like the space ships in starship troopers : http://www.frontiermodels.co.uk/images/ ... 8920e8.jpg

Un tempo avevo qualcosa da difendere
E quando l'ho perduta
Per la prima volta ho capito quanto io fossi debole.
Ho scoperto che il massimo
Che riesco a fare è pensare solo a me stesso
E allora ho voluto solo cose
che non sarebbe stato necessario proteggere.

In fact X2 came out after starship troopers (great film, but really nothing whatsoever to do with the bookUltima87 wrote:i'm joining this conversation because the titans of X2 reminds me starship troopers battleship

I'm not claiming any real connection here besides coincidence, but the GOCE spacecraft kinda made me think Terran.

The mind constantly tries to make the foreign familiar, tricking us to relate one thing with another.
I find the Paranid capitals look alot like Star Trek ships.
The Argon like Battlestar Galactica.
The Split and Teladi like standard sci-fi, eg classic sci-fi ships like the Aliens movie ship Sulaco (think there was a ship mod for it in X3R).
The Boron look well, like squids mostly.
