Hi!
I have a problem - it doesn't work. I have a link to assign hotkey to activate it, but nothing happend(i added slipstream driver through cheat menu).
Same thing with Turbo boost from bonus pack. I have entire Lucike Script Collection. Maybe because of that?
Thanks!

Probably not a conflict with Lucike's scripts, no.

Try buying (or finding) a Slipstream Drive normally. That will ensure that you have the correct ware. Did you use the v2.00 package? Manual installation or Plugin Manager? In what language do you play your game?

I tried to buy "real" one right after cheated ware doesn't get work.
I'am using right now 2.0 version (spk). Using it on latest XRM(for AP).
Maybe i made something wrong?
I must just buy it and it ready for using? No other requirements?
Could be some script conflict. Can you leave unpacked version of script?(for manual installation. I want to try on clean X3 AP)

OK, so what happened when you tried that?

It could be that XRM uses the same ware; thereby causing a conflict. However, I think that many XRM players have been using the Slipstream Drive and you are the first to report difficulty.

You can unpack the .spk yourself (right-click and select "Export to Zip"), but it probably will not install the ware if you do not install with the Plugin Manager.

Custom wares have common compatibility issues. I have been experimenting with a technique for improving reliability of custom wares, but not one single person has given me feedback on whether it works. *Heavy sigh*

So, i opened plugin.slipstream.start and plugin.slipstream.run
in script editor and changed emp.zz.blablabla.ware to Slipstream drive.
Right now, it's working perfect)
And what with Improved Boarding?
Just install and check, if that working?
Thanks again for script)

That is a correct solution. I have tried to detect when that happens so that I can provide a ware-free workaround, but I need proper feedback (as described in the other thread).

If I do not know what goes wrong on other people's computers then I cannot fix it (obviously!).

Has anyone else had a problem getting the Slipstream drive to work?

I'm playing XRM. The ware hasn't appeared in any stations (nor the encyclopaedia, nor the 'best buy' lists) but the hotkey setting appears in the Controls.

I found a couple floating around after a battle, scooped them up and put them into a couple of ships, but using the hotkey has no effect.

Oooh... that does not sound good. If NPC's have them, then I suspect an XRM conflict.

Is there a list of EMP wares used by XRM anywhere?

Next version will attempt to identify conflicts and should work even if the custom ware does not. (Maybe)

Sorry, I don't know.

*Groan*

I guess I am going to have to start a new thread; the instructions to install EMP are not only wrong, but possibly destructive to your game.

Tip: NEVER install EMP. No matter what the (old) instructions say. It is built into the Plugin Manager. Just install with the PM and be happy. :)

Next version (soon) will include the ability to use the hotkey even if the custom ware fails to install properly.

Compatibility Update
(No new features other than compatibility)

SlipStream Drive

Changes
  • Attempts to identify ware conflicts. If a conflict is detected, then the script will use Navigation Command Software instead of the custom ware.
  • Optional: Can be installed manually (uses Navigation Command Software if you install manually).

Nope, wont work...

When i hit the key, says "turbo working" and ship stops, then hits normal max-speed and says "conventional engine working"

EDIT: Why not replace "spacefly collector" or some totaly un-used ware?

The drive is working if you get the sound effects.

The drive will stall if you are near anything else... try it again.

I am glad to hear that my test for a bad installation worked! Now I can use the same technique in other scripts that use custom wares.
  • (As for using vanilla wares, some of those may be changed by mods, so they are no safer to use than EMP wares. Also, you may need a spacefly collector for the Shady Business plot in AP 3.0.)

17_16 is the original ware from the first post of this thread (which I cannot update).

Be sure to install the language file (and scripts) from the 2.01 pack linked above.

Tested, flew a fighter AND a cap-ship in the middle of nowhere, ALONE and tried the drive. Same issue as i mentioned. It just goes to normal mode where i can fly about normaly. Hitting the key just puts your ship into dead-stop, then back to normal max-speed.

It is a prototype drive -- did I mention that it is a bit delicate? It can overheat, and there is a cooldown period after you use it. Most of the time it works fine, as long as there is no other object near your ship (10km or so). If you just spam the hotkey, then the drive won't work. Obviously. ;)

Here is a test version that includes logging of emergency shutdown causes. Try it a few times, then post the log0906.txt (above your saved game folder).

Test Version 2.02

"Ooookey, what the..."

Works, sort of... Used it on a cap-ship. When clear of prox-alerts it seems to work but IF it stops from a prox-warning it comes out of warp and then second or so later launches off downwards at 5k speed few miles... Made me lol

10k range is a bit brutal, "when or where do you have 10k of room?" 1-2k at max.
W-energy & shield-drain is quite OK balance-wise.

Warping seems a bit "stuttering" so if im not mistaken, its like teleporting the ship, not really 'boosting the speed'. Engine-limitation i imagine...

Jump-drive sound loops over and over and over and then i got tired of it. Just once, please or nothing at all.

Yep, if you get knocked out of the Slipstream, the results are unpredictable. You will be knocked off course -- sometimes far off course.

Proximity for "bouncing" out of the Slipstream is never really 10 km... that is just a number that covers all cases. The actual proximity limits depend on the size of the object. The drive is intended for traveling... not for escaping. Use your Turbo Booster for that job.

You would not expect the slipstream to act like normal space, would you? ;)

I am glad it is working for you.
