Xadrian with Java 7

Post by kayahr »

Hello,

I replaced the Windows ZIP of Xadrian 1.3.3 on the download page. If you have problems with Java 7 or 64 bit then please redownload the ZIP. It now contains two EXE files (If it doesn't then you got the old ZIP. Try clearing your browser cache):

xadrian.exe: Use this one on 32 bit Windows or if you have installed 32 bit Java on 64 bit Windows.
xadrian64.exe: Use this one on 64 bit Windows with 64 bit Java.

I also removed the INI file, the data is now included in the EXE.

I tested the new EXE files on my Windows 7 64 bit with Java 6/7 32/64 bit. No problem detected.

Thanks  :D

I will test it soon,
Cheers.

I get

Code: Select all

error starting Java VM
with either 32 or 64bit.

I am away now for two weeks.
So I'll take another look when I get back.
It is late here and it's been a long day.

Hm... That's really strange. If you are the only one having this problem then I'm afraid something must be wrong on your machine. Have you tried uninstalling all Java VMs and then reinstalling at least one VM version?

Yes I have done the Java updates for both 32/64bit versions.
They are installed in the program/program(x86) folders via normal installation.

I do not have time to look it over now.
Just checking mail before I switch PC off for two weeks.

Anyone know how to edit, or has already edited the sectors.xml and what not for X3AP?

Unless there is a better complex calculator? :).

I was referring to files saved within the application, e.g. when you select 'File->Open', on my PC the directory defaults to my documents folder but I saved my files in a completely different folder. If I do a further 'Open' then the folder defaults to the folder last opened from, i.e. the one I want to open from . However, if I restart the application the folder defaults to my documents again.
Rather a bad explanation I know, I hope that was clear enough though..

edit: btw, why can't the in game sector selection work like Xadrian's sector filter, it works great and it's not rocket science!
I don't have this problem. I'm running Win 7. What sort of permissions have you given the utility? Could it be restricted from recording the last saved location?

One problem I'm having with Windows 7 and Java version 1.7.0_1 both x86 and x64 versions installed.

Xadrian 1.3.3 runs fine but when I select a sector I can't add a mine, but I can if I don't add a sector. The window never appears asking you the size from selection of asteroids.

This did work on a previous version of Java (1.6) with 1.3.2, but 1.3.2 does the same thing on my current Java (1.7) install which is odd.

Linux with OpenJDK (1.6.0_23) works just fine LOL, I've got that running across a X server to my windows machine for now but WTF? Java fail :(. can't be bothered to install an older version of Java on Windows.

I've got 1.60_24 (Verified through JVM) installed on my system and its working fine. (My browser uses a different version.) There's a version 2 out now, though. Maybe that would fix the problem?

Installed Java 1.7 update 2 and removed the previous versions... still the same nothing comes up when you add a mine with a sector set of it you try to edit an existing yield...

Oracle Java fail :( Java 1.6 works just fine.

It seems I am not the only one who has trouble with those Java RTEs.

They have put two of my favorite X-apps out of action :(

Using my memory and in-game map for finding Stations to build.
(In AP that is done for you,if you wish.Just tell it what you want in your complex, and it will purchase and place all stations for you to join later.)

And using manual options for managing my saves now.

Yes, I'm currently working on it. Xadrian will support multiple games then. When you create a new complex you can choose between X3TC and X3AP (I could even add X3R but unfortunately I don't have the necessary data in the required format...). Update will be released soon.

Just taking a moment to give a heartfelt thanks to you for all your work with Xadrian. I've found it a pleasure to use and it has definitely increased my enjoyment of the game. So..

Thanks! Thank you very much!

Xadrian 1.4.0 is now available. Changes:

» Added support for X³: Albion Prelude. This change was pretty heavy, I hope there are not too many bugs...
» Added a splash screen which displays the loading progress when Xadrian starts. Loading all these large XML files takes some seconds so the progress bar now shows what is happening.
» Some GUI changes. For example you can now change the theme in the preferences.

This is very unlikely :) So you can't download it? Do you get any useful error messages?
