I've bought my copy of X3:TC over Steam, and played the game for a day or two until the latest patch was released.
However, I did not know that I wasn't supposed to download and install the patch, but wait for the Steam to update the game, so I was met with activation error after patching the game.
Because I tried to run the game after patching for several times, now the game won't activate properly anymore, and says "server connection rejected by remote host" according to TAGES support website.
I've contacted Steam technical support regarding this issue, but still haven't gotten any responses yet, so I'm posting here as well.
My steam account name is the same as my Egosoft forum name.

I made a steam backup of the game before applying the patch, so I deleted the local files and reinstalled the game.supakillaii wrote:Right click the X3 Terran Conflict from the Steam Games tab, then Properties, and from there the Local Files tab and then Verify integrity of game cache... that should make it download new files and fix it.
The problem is that I've tried patching the game with downloaded patches 2~3 times and those failed activations have caused TAGES to reject my connection after fresh install of X3:TC.

It must have used up your 5 activations when you tried that? I'm only assuming here, but you might have to contact Steam (or Egosoft? not sure which one handles the activations) to get the limit increased, or something.
Stuff like this is why I never buy games with limited activations. I've talked to people who had the same issue with SPORE screwing up and eating all the activations, and then them not being able to play.
I'm just glad this game was available on disc without activation limit, would have been a shame to pass it up.
