I'm not certain, but Pirate bases usually sell those - for holding slaves etc.
(They did in X3 anyway...)
If you're playing the plot missions from the Terran start, an early mission has you scan an odd Pirate base in an unknown sector west, north then east from Scale Plate Green.
(Sort of above S.P.G. on the universe map.)
There's something strange about this station and you can't dock there, however there's a regular Pirate base also in this sector.
It's probably a good idea to save elsewhere before docking there as they might still try to plant a bomb on your ship, as they did in X3 on occasion.

I think you can get them from pirate stations.

Possibly a bug or a gameplay issue here as in X3-R lone passengers (presumably) just travelled on the flight deck with you. Now I can't do a passenger run unless I fit the previously illegal life support mechanism or buy a TP which is pre-equipped for pax.

However on that note...I bought an Argon Express and managed a couple of runs however now every time I try and pick up passengers I get a warning about no cargo bay life support... Possible bug?

I've also found the time allowance for passenger runs is always slightly less than really needed, unless you fly manually and hit the gate(s) at full speed, burn up to the destination station and hit dock at the last second.

I'm pretty sure CLS wasn't illegal in X3R.

Ah maybenot illegal, just not sold openly at normal equipment stations.

Yeah i'm pretty sure also that it wasn't illegal in X3, the reason Pirate bases stocked them was nearly certainly to allow easy transport of slaves.

TC: Terran space, 4th unknown sector (after Pluto), military base, it also stocks lots of other goodies, long trip but worth it.
