Cargo bay life support

Simple question, can I buy a cargo bay life support system for a non-TP class ship?

During the early game I enjoy just mapping the universe with a super speedy scout ship, equipped with Triplex scanners, while pottering around doing what I can where I can. I keep on seeing loads of "take this passanger to..." missions, which would be ideal for me as I wander aimlessly around the universe seeing the sights, but sadly I can't seem to accept passangers. I'd happily sacrifise some cargo hold space so that I can get a little satisfaction running a personalised taxi service while I marvel at the beauty of the world an perhaps even earn a few pence

Forgive me if this is possible already and I've passed by the equipment vender without noticing it, but after a short search I decided to pop on here.

So whats stopping me having a super speedy mini taxi at expense of a chunk of my Rapier's unused cargo hold?

Yes you can. The life support system is a simple upgrade, it works for all ships. So you can get a rapier and be a speedy taxi.

Note that the best-paying taxi missions all want you to have a TP though.

I dont mind not being able to do each and every taxi mission, I just enjoy riding about and want to get paid for enjoying the wonderful universe, and being able to out run any ship I dont like the looks of has a certain element of fun and allows me to appreciate my heavier armed ships later in the game much more

I don't have TC yet, but in X3:Reunion, one can buy the cargo life support upgrade from a pirate base.

Go to the Player menu and select Advanced / Encyclopedia and then look under ship upgrades. If Cargo Life Support is listed there it will tell you where it can be purchased. If not I think it means you have not yet visited the correct sector

Usually a Pirate Base in Atreus Clouds far out to the East. Otherwise, Home of Opportunity's Teladi Trading Station stocks them. Cannot remember them all but the TradeStat in Great Exchange far to the East also stocks them. Hope it helps.

I just want to double check, because I neglected to realize this when I first began playing... but did you realize that the Humble Merchant start gives you a nice fast M5 as well?

Docking computers can be had from Paranid equipment docks, but you need to have fairly good rep with them in order to buy one.

It would probably be a lot easier to explore in the M5 and trade remotely with your trader. There really isn't anything you can do while sitting in a trader that can't be done remotely, and traders actually move slightly faster OOS (since they don't need to worry about collision detection, they don't need to slow down/maneuver to dock/avoid things).

Try siezewell equip dock get best buy and sell & explorer upgrades its not far from atreus clouds and you will need those upgrades sooner rather than later
