I've been playing X2 for a few few weeks, trading away with a few factories, and got myself a fully equipped Nova, and have returned to the plot, now i'm on mission 3, i'm at the broken gate, i've got really close and ejected from the ship (mines destroyed by laser and hitting shields), i'm targetting the gate and (Narcelle??) but to no avail, nothing happens?, I was told to go here at the Goner temple, and met the lizard dude on entering the system, but i've targetted the gate in and out of the ship, flown all round the gate, got really close to it, and nothing is happening, looking at some of the posts on here, i should get another information video taking me on in the plot line..... but i'm now.... has anyone had this problem, i'm fully patched up on V1.1.

You need to eject from your ship and fly right up to it in your space suit so your nose is almost touching.

Once close enough you will get a movie, either "Nothing Found" or "Success"

how did you manage to hit mines with your laser ?

Actually I have run into problems with this mission as well. when I get to the gate nothing is there (although I went through Presidents end) I have gotten out of the ship in the suit and been within 2m of each nacelle and the gate object but nothing. I came to the sector in an Argon Nova the first time then a Split dragon the second time.

Is there a time limit on this mission as I have been playing a couple weeks.

I read the commander tutorial and nothing like that has happened to me, could it just be a bug and my own personal version of bad luck.

There is a small movie sequence each time you get to a nacelle, if this didn t happen, you need to get closer (in fact you can run into the nacelle, it will start the small movie sequence ans stops you), you need to get close to the part which looks like a "station door"

Guess I will just have to keep trying. Although I have hit the "door like" circular object on the nacelles before and hit the "I" many times. I have never gotten that Teladi though so I am wondering if that is part of the problem.

Don't really need to do the plot but I would like to play it through before concentrating on galactic domination through economic and military means.

Hi Again,

Okay I went back to Broken gate and flew to within 2m of each nacelle and nothing happened. No Cut scenes no crazy Teladi speaking like Gollum. I then decided I might as well try checking out Argon One and Terracorp HQ for the original speakers Ko and Bandanna.

Bandanna wants me to go to the Goner Temple which I already did. I go the briefing about going to the broken gate to investigate and meeting my old mate Brett. So I went to Terracorp and Elanna Ko is no longer listed as a person to speak too.

Off to the goner temple, everyone in the temple only gives me the option to ask them to surrender. So it looks like it is impossible for me to do this mission. Ahhh well I am off to takeover the universe.

Is Bret with you?
Bret should be with you when you go to the broken gate.

Sounds like you might have missed something.
Read back through your message log see if you can spot anything.

u r doing the right thing so far, send Bret off to chase the other guys. then blow up the mines, then visit BOTH Narcles, the second narcle u visit is the one where the scan becomes positive

I can't find Brett, where is he?

The message log provided no clue because all it has is bandanna saying go to the goner temple. I already did that and got the conversation with bandanna, Ko the goner guy and myself.

They said go to the broken gate and investigate so I did but I flew through presidents end. Only thing I can think of is I missed where to meet brett and that is what stalled the plot line for me.

When I went back to talk to Bandanna on the argon one he told me to go to the temple. I went to the temple, everyone there just says "Have you heard the news" and the only option I get is asking them to surrender. Ko is no longer listed at the Terracorp HQ so I can't even try talking to her.

Bret is waiting outside the Goner temple in an Argon Discover called the Saiien II. You need to comm him to trigger the next part of the mission.

In my version, Brett is flying a Discovery that can reach 450+, where mine can only reach 170+. It is fully equipped, etc. (Playing the hard level first).

He appears on the scene and is straight off towards the broken gate, so there is no chance of trading to get a better ship, etc.

Have these sinking feeling that if I don't follow on after Brett, he is going to disappear forever.

So long as you've spoken to him outside the Goner Temple, don't worry--when you arrive in Brennan's Triumph he will mysteriously be there. Same applies to the later mission in Nyana's Hideout--doesn't matter how slow or how fast you get there, the people who need to be there will arrive at exactly the same time as you!

Well you can close this topic becuase I restarted the game, I wanted to see what the whole plot was about so this is no longer a problem.
