X2: Tips for Befriending the Split.
Hey, has anyone got any tips for how i can become friends with the split?
Any good sectors for killing pirates, or any other activities?
I'm hurting for some 25MW shields.

Get to the East of the map where Split sectors are more dangerous and start fighting Pirates there.
Or
Find a Pirate base in Split space, annoy it, run like hell and try to pick off pirate ships in between episodes of yarding it away to safety.
If you don't yet have 25mj sheilds that's going to be hard, so invest in some silkworms.

If you haven't done anything bad to the Split, it should only take one or two pirate kills to get docking rights. I find Thuruk's Beard to be a good place, but Rhonkar's Clouds does have a pirate base you can wait near. No need to "poke the hornet's nest" to get some action. You may get more than you want to deal with.

you can't buy what they won't sell, and to start with, they don't sell you sheilds of that type. That's why I suggested the ways to raise reputationfig wrote:Er, the post title says X2, in which case just go to any Split Equipment Dock and buy some!

I really miss that in X3, The first time I fired on a Pirate base and it just sat there taking it was a surprise, then a dissapointment. Far too lame if you ask me.
Hanging out by Pirate Bases and stirring things up in X2 rocked, especially if you had a ship powerful enough to sit by the docking bay and kill them as they came out

Ah yes, I remember the days...pjknibbs wrote:Forget killing them as they came out--pirate bases in X2 were GOLDMINES for captured ships! I used to knock each of the hulls down to approximately 87%, then, once all the ships were flying with damaged hulls, just cruise through them with an Ion Disruptor set to "bake slowly"...
Mind you it was intensly annoying if they turned blue then got shot up before you could order them clear. I tended to try and bait them away from the group and cap them one at a time. Mossie missiles were good for that.
At one point loads of my freighters attatched to stations were old pirate transports, it saved me a fortune.
I liked that the pirates had different types of ships in X2, not just fighters.

Umm........ There May Have BEEN 1 in my game ofNanook wrote: Rhonkar's Clouds does have a pirate base you can wait near. No need to "poke the hornet's nest" to get some action. You may get more than you want to deal with.

I was cruising around that sector in me K [] taking potshots @ any pirate vessel i could find (mainly pirate TS's near the north gate i think it was

After i kept wiping them out, i got narked with the Pirate Base & love tapped it a few times with hornets....... [] I moved into range for me GPPC's & let loose with 'em (front/left/right turrets set to attack my target & the others set to missile defence/protect ship) whilst love tapping the base now & then

Anyway back to question @ hand.... i got my split & paranid ranking up by building a teladianium foundry in priest pity & let them come to me, was able to dock with their stations pretty quickly after that.

Re: X2: Tips for Befriending the Split.
No, this is not like this. You ought to destroy all M1 and M2 ships in Xenon Sectors 534, 596, 597. Right after you`ve done, Xenon ships will come in Thyn`s Abiss from Xenon Sector 472. This process is rather endless. So be carefull to buy Split police license right after you have gained Split Creature 0 rate. Right after you`ve tired of farming, destroy Xenon Shipyard in Sector 472.
P.S. Use Alpha PSG installed on Argon Express either Pirate Orinoko.
