That's bogus. After I posted here I had an attack on my firewall. Fun's over. You can have this site.

Idea:
Maybe you shouldn't tie names to IP addresses. Just maybe...omg.

I've been using this site for years and have never had an attack from it. I suggest you contact a site admin if you have concerns.

Microsoft

Oh! My firewall program was blocking Microsoft from doing a security update. Funny. I restarted. I'm fine.

there isn't really any anonymousness on the internet, every single website you visit tags and logs your ip address. There ain't much you can do about it. Except stop using the internet lol.

You can use a proxy or anonymiser, and my ISP puts me behind a proxy anyway

My ISP has floating IP's as standard. So everytime i log on its a differnt IP. if i wanted a fixed IP it cost more LOL

Variable IP addresses are easier for the ISP's servers. Fixed IPs cost more because it allows you to host servers from your PC.

your should probably expect an attack on your firewall of some kind or another every 30 minutes, just from people trying random addresses

i got zone alarm, spybot: search n destroy, adaware and AVG anti virus running. every 15-30 mins i get a warning saying my ports are scanned or the browser is being redirected (or tried to)

I also use Firefox. The new Internet explorer is still dreadful for protection. I use FF and i hardly have problems.

FireFox and / or Opera are great browsers. Where one balks, the other works great. I've actually been having better luck with Opera, but it conforms to the W3C standards better than FireFox or M$IE. 8)

I find it hilarious (and fortuitous?) that your firewall was freaking out about an XP patch. I recently turned off my automatic updates when XP started having stability problems after one of the patches.

some firewalls can be over protective, and seem to make ppl more paranid.

i've seen someone thinking he was getting attacked when his firewall was flagging up ping requests from his ISP. Then wandered y he lost connection when he blocked them.

what ppl need to udnerstand is that theres always trafficing coming and going from your pc, especially when your browsing, most of the time its nothing malicious.

but as for using proxys, there are still ways to find out your ip anyways. And alot of ISPs now use transparent proxys which can be both good and bad.

site with limited access are the worse, seeing everyone from the same ISP as the same person, so only the first person can actually access it, everyone else getting told they've exceed thier maxium visits
