A joystick space simulation game is released (The threat)

The only other similar game is a russian game (Homeplanet combat based, no trade)

The 'Threat' gains a massive following,

The forum bursts at the seams with new players.

Egosoft is inundated with With backers for X ONLINE and has to go into hiding from all this media attention.

And then due to popular demand, 6 months to a year later an X2 expantion pack is released. With over 50 new sectors, 50% more ships than last time and a way back to Earth!!!

Trouble is, nowadays everyone would say an X movie is a ripoff of Farscape, even though the game predates the TV series...
