If you're waiting for this on console you're going to be waiting a long timeCaptain Lemmiwinks wrote:ES still havent got the specs for the nex gen consoles ?
XR looking more like vapourware unless i am wrong and this stalling is not down to the console game.
by the time they get it released it will be 5 years behind everything else.

It would shed a ton of light on the issue of why it was delayed, why it isn't out and why there is so little information actually. I wouldn't chalk it up to console porting being out of the question, and given what we know about an entirely new and ground up engine it might have been the plan all along.Fallent wrote:If you're waiting for this on console you're going to be waiting a long timeCaptain Lemmiwinks wrote:ES still havent got the specs for the nex gen consoles ?

I agree and I actually thought the same. Would explain everything! However CBJ did say it's 100% currently not planned for any consoles so far as he's aware of. I believe him.BarrenEarth wrote:Snip

Here is this same block of text, just as effective, formulated into a professional reply, that won't beget a personal response:Alan Phipps wrote:[OT] @ BarrenEarth: I guess you only see what you want to see in threads then. First, I think you are a couple pages behind...Yohandis Yololo Yum VII wrote:Here is this same block of text, just as effective, formulated into a professional reply, that won't beget a personal response:Alan Phipps wrote:[OT] @ BarrenEarth: I guess you only see what you want to see in threads then. Second, the community mods that will be a part of 3.0 are done, they just need to be cleaned up and approved as Alan said. Since I have no doubts the community modders have lived up to their end of the bargain by providing a free and complete set of mods that have already been tested and used by thousands of players, I would again ask why it would be taking Egosoft so long to package something that was already created for them...
Do you have anything relevant to the newest discussion we are having about how the possible delays could be because of a console port or waiting for PS4 release?

To clear up a couple of misconceptions:BarrenEarth wrote:Second, the community mods that will be a part of 3.0 are done, they just need to be cleaned up and approved as Alan said. While the community mods are signed by Egosoft, they are tested by the community and any fixes required are done by the original modder. It's also not enough that they have already been used by 'thousands of players' - they will not be signed unless they pass certain rigorous standards, which can be difficult to achieve for more complicated mods.
Pretty sure this has been ruled out (denied) a couple of times by Egosoft personnel, including Bernd.Do you have anything relevant to the newest discussion we are having about how the possible delays could be because of a console port or waiting for PS4 release?

TGB: The X universe has been quite successful for Egosoft. Why has Egosoft chosen not to expand onto other platforms such as the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3? Are their hardware limitations? Control Problems?
Bernd Lehahn: Well it’s certainly not a trivial task to bring such a complex and hardware hungry franchise to a console. Our games have stood and will stand in the future, for total freedom inside a very large universe. I don’t think it’s impossible to bring this to a console, but it’s a big task. So as a small developer we have to concentrate on one platform at a time.
Think again Eledan... Concentrate on one platform at a time is not the same as never going to do it.

I was under the impression that you wanted to know whether the delay for Rebirth was due to it being ported to console. Your little snippet there has nothing whatsoever to do with Rebirth, and is more in the nature of 'vague plans for the future'. Bernd has said much the same about multiplayer many times in the past, yet every game they've released has been singleplayer so far, Rebirth included.
Further to that, from edition 43 of the X universe news in an interview with Krawall Gaming Network:
KGN - What's happened to the User Interface? Some are concerned it may be dumbed down and [the game] may even appear on console.
Bernd - No, no console. The game will become less complicated, but no less complex.
{Emphasis mine}
Oh, and even if they were concentrating on one platform at a time, as in your post, that would suggest that they would concentrate on finishing the game for PC before starting a console port.
So, think again, BarrinErth.... The Rebirth delay has nothing to do with a console port.

All of this has been said before, and the conspiracy theorists will no doubt ignore or dismiss it once again, but no, we are not doing any console-related work on X Rebirth at the moment, nor are we "waiting" for anything related to consoles. As already explained, the initial 2011 date was an over-optimistic guess which would probably have been better not given in the first place, and the delay from 2012 to 2013 was an accumulation of relatively small things relating to the game design and development. Ironically given the current discussion, one of those small things was a decision to change the UI design somewhat to make it more mouse-friendly.
Regarding X3AP 3.0, that's not really a subject for this forum, but it's not quite the same as things like Bonus Pack where we do indeed just test and sign existing content. Work on the content for the Community Project is still ongoing among the DevNet volunteer team, with Egosoft staff providing support where necessary. There is a small amount of overhead associated with finding gaps in their X Rebirth work for those staff to do what's needed, but they are not holding the process up; it just takes time to get something like this ready, tested and translated into various languages.

Who wants to join in on a song to pass the time until release?
*Harrumph*
1'000'000 bottles of spacefuel on the wall, 1'000'000 bottles of spacefuel.
Take 1 down, pass it around, 999'999 bottles of spacefuel on the wall.
Sing along if you want to

Anyways, we tried that with Teladianium but Egosoft kept adding more bottles to the wall because they aren't close to release yet.

I don't think this will get answered, but it can't hurt to give it ago anyway!
Can/would any of the Devs be as nice to share any details about this ship? Any at all? Of everything I've seen about Rebirth so far, this ship has to be the thing that's excited me most! It's looks absolutely stunning. Very detailed. Obviously a Carrier, but what class is it? One of the biggest? Will it have many customisable options?

Also, did the same guy who designed the Skunk also design that ship?

I can not wait! I want to start building my empire, build a couple of super carriers. huge merchant fleet. and finally start building a lot of the space station, so great and beautiful that you can for hours flying around them and admire. and finally the most important thing to do, to destroy the fraction of argon completely! read reports about military engagements, attacks on my ships to respond to it, to send reinforcements, build new stations to protect trade routes. read income statements, the losses, and the mission. tired of waiting
