Does this mean we´ll have indies out there, and will they be able to buy their own stations over timeFees:
Every 50.000 credits profit that he makes the pilot receives a fee of 4.500Cr at max. (level 25) following this formula:
(level * 100) + 2000
Over time a pilot would be able to afford his own ship this way....

I upgraded my 5 sector traders (spread throughout the universe) to 5 universe traders. The result? 5 traders that used to pull in the better part of 300,000 an hour of play hovered around 110,000 to 130,000 for three hours play tonight. I just don't get it... it looks like they're trading better than ever. I know one guy bought a jumpdrive and if it came out of the Robotrader Bank factory I have set up for them that would explain where a big chunk of change went. If it came out of my personal pockets of 85 million I wouldn't even have noticed. Same with their more expesive salaries.
Do they pull their salaries from a factory they've got assigned as a home base, or out of your pocket? I think in 1.3 they pulled salary out of your pocket no matter how homebase was set...

If your trader was started in v1.3 (or earlier), you need to stop and start the trader again, then the piolots name will be generated.Kibinto wrote:how do i get a pilot for my sector trader? i have the Mk3 software and have started the sector trader option, but as far as i know i havent got a poilot for the ship.... it still says that the pilot is Julian... how can i get a pilot for the ship?
BTW, the pilots name will reflect the race that you start the trader in, so if you first start it in an Argon sector, you'll get an Argon sounding name, Paranid for Paranid, etc etc.

I don't think you actually pick one. Just make sure you have all the prerequisites for the Universe Trader and it should sort it out itself.Kibinto wrote:how do i get a pilot for my sector trader? i have the Mk3 software and have started the sector trader option, but as far as i know i havent got a poilot for the ship.... it still says that the pilot is Julian... how can i get a pilot for the ship?

I have to say I really love this piece of software.
I have 5 up and running on Universe Trade level 25 - last night I got the most alarming "one of your ships is under attack" notifications ever. Nice tweak guys; at just gone mid night with the lights down low and some classical music on that really got my attention. Not only did I get told where my ship was attacked but it also jumped out of sector to escape and hid away and was waiting for me to sort out the problem.
Sadly being in a Dragon at the time I got toasted. I really want to use my Dragon and so I am playing around with wingmen and missiles (neither of which I have used in the past) - might eventually get it working.

Boy I have a ton of questions! I just started a few days ago after I saw the 1.4 post on bluesnews, I didnt really like the game when I first bought it at release and it was sitting on the shelf, anyways now I am addicted.
I have run the first couple of missions(currently waiting to talk to ben on argon one) and then just went full out trading silcon. I just bought my second boron dolphin and luckily read the post, registered the game, and downloaded these new scripts!
Anyways I am really wondering how to outfit my new dolphin, currently it has...
MKI Nav
MKI Fight
MK3 Trade
1 MW Shield
Full Engine Tuning
Full Rudder
200 extra cargo
Do I need to buy the trading extension, best buy/sell for my autonomous traders?
Should I go ahead and buy better shields?
What type of weapon is a good standard rear defense cannon? Also I assume I set it to protect, and that a fight MK2 would help give it better accuracy.
Should I put some of the additional upgrades like the boost accelerator, docking computer, etc?
Do I need to start up a factory to assign a home base or can they go ok without?
Also a couple of unrelated questions
How can I improve my relations with the split and the paranid? Would really like to open up those trade lanes:)
Where can I see the ship type (MKI, II, TP, TS, etc) just learning most of the ships and can't seem to find the designation anywhere.

1). nope, no trade extension or best buy/sell needed, in fact they are useless on AI ships.
2). Yup, shields are good, especially on your sector/galaxy traders as they have software worth 500k on board. Plus a 25MW shields is required for the galaxy trader.
3). I wouldn't bother giving them weapons - there best defence is to run away, or some fighter drones (or both). If they fight they die.
4). Nope, those arn't used by the AI either. Just speed/rudder/cargo upgrades that are worth it.
5). They work fine with no home base, and use your account for buying selling, if you assign them to a factory, they use its account instead.
6). To make friends with people, kill pirates in there space.

To Jam3.
I can help with a couple of answers;
To optimise the MK3 trader for the Dolphin you will need at least 1x25MW shield (bought from the Split) and MK2 fight.
The Dolphin will use upto an Alpha PSG in the rear turret (bought from Teladi) or my option a Gamma IRE (bought from Argon or Split equipment docks); set it to missile defence.
The only addons your traders need are;
Factories - full engine - as much cargo as you want - trade MK1 (to buy) trade MK2 (to sell) - thats it
MK3 traders - check the read me - full engine- as much cargo as you want - trade MK3 for sector traders - 25MW shield - fight MK1 and fight MK2 - (Nav control?) for Universe traders.
I always add a Duplex or Triplex scanner - this is not needed it just helps.
For the rest check the sticky "don't panic" at the top of the page.

Answers in bold
MKI Nav
MKI Fight
MK3 Trade
1 MW Shield This needs upping to at least 25mw. I'd up to max if I were you.
Full Engine Tuning
Full Rudder
200 extra cargo Again, I'd up this to max
Do I need to buy the trading extension, best buy/sell for my autonomous traders? AFAIK, no.
Should I go ahead and buy better shields?See above.
What type of weapon is a good standard rear defense cannon? Also I assume I set it to protect, and that a fight MK2 would help give it better accuracy.DON'T ARM IT. Give it fighting drones, about 12.
Should I put some of the additional upgrades like the boost accelerator, docking computer, etc?Nope. Useless in the hands of the AI
Do I need to start up a factory to assign a home base or can they go ok without?Either/or. If you assign a homebase it will use that stations money to trade. If you don't assign one then it'll use your own personal funds.
How can I improve my relations with the split and the paranid? Would really like to open up those trade lanes:) Kill some Khaak/Pirates/Xenon in these areas. Depending on your current rank it should only take about 10 kills to sort this out for you.
Where can I see the ship type (MKI, II, TP, TS, etc) just learning most of the ships and can't seem to find the designation anywhere.Not sure, but here you go:
M1 = Carrier
M2 = Destroyer
M3 = Heavy Fighter
M4 = Medium Fighter/Interceptor
M5 = Light Fighter/Scout
M6 = Corvette
TL = Large Transporter
TS = Small Transporter
TP = Passenger Transporter.
