We're almost there! Today we have released Beta 7 for the upcoming 4.10 update of
X4: Foundations. You can download it now and get a first impression our latest improvements to the game. The full list of changes in 4.10 Beta 7 is available
in our forum.
Thank you in advance for your contributions to the beta test.
The latest features, fixes and improvements make the game alot more enjoyable.
* Alot of UX and UI improvements, especially on the map screen
* General better performance in various situation, especially the map (30/40 -> 45/55 FPS with map opened)
However there are still two crucial and QoL / UI features missing, which (for me) make the difference between "playing" and "doing tedious chores". At least one of them is a quick to implement feature. Often I can't bear to play this game longer then an hour because it still feels like a chore rather then having fun.
1. Copy / Paste Renaming of Ships
Usually you have a lot of ships, as single ships, organized in fleets, docked on carriers or working for a station. Also there is the possibility to give them another default name when buying them (PS.: Automatic numbering would be another good feature). However you still have to manually type in the whole name when you want to rename ships. There should be a simple copy/paste feature where I can select the ingame text (or from the clipboard) and paste it. Then I only have to manually add a number in the end. I attached a screenshot which shows the exact position where it would be useful.
Of course you could greatly expand this idea with things like selecting multiple ships, assigning a template name and then auto numbering them. However that would cost more development time and the simple copy/paste feature would be sufficient for like 99% of those usecases.

2. Simple sector range blacklisting for station managers
In a previous game version the black/whitelisting feature was introduced. With it you can fine-tune where your ships are allowed to do their job. While you can basically fine-tune every little detail, I often don't want to fiddle with those things. For example I set up several mining stations in my current game. I simply want to tell the station manager that he can operate withing three sector range, for every of those station. But I can't. Instead i have to create a blacklist for each of those stations manually in a totally tedious way. I don't want this, i just press alt-f4 and do something else. It would be sufficient to have a simple sector range option for the whole station, also of course it would be nice to fine-tune this for each group of ships (alpha, beta, etc., for example miners are allowed up to two jumps while traders are allowed up tofour jumps). Of course those limit should not bypass the sector managers skill level/sector range limit). Afaik this little basic feature was a thing in X3 and before.
