Every game releases with some bugs in it. It's the nature of code. And responsible companies release updates and bug fixes as quick as they can. Egosoft has always been one of those companies.
having said all that it's been my experience that a lot of so called bugs have more to do with people either not researching what their system can run or following some u tube experts advice on how to tweak their system that causes more problems than they fix, and I say that as a former service manager for a tech company and a major ISP. The stream by Ant made it obvious that Egosoft has taken their time and put together a quality product. Yes , a lot of us old time X players were disappointed with Rebirth but that was the direction the game took for the most part not the mechanics. I bought it on preorder and never had a problem running it, it just was not my type of space game. From what I could see on Ant's stream Egosoft has gotten back to what a space game should be. Explore, Build ,Trade,Fight and most definitely Think. I pre ordered it on NOV 2 .

Yes, ObisidianAnt had only one crash in 10 hours.
Wasn't he also on an earlier build when it crashed?

The build that the Ant has played was 0.95 beta. So... ~1200 viewers and it was a great stream by the way, enjoyed it a lot. X4 looked great and charming. I think the majority of viewers felt the same.

Maybe I'm remembering it wrong but I thought he started out on an earlier one accidentally, then switched after the crash.

You remember it correctly, he wanted to show the tutorials but the version he started with was the incorrect version and he needed to update to the latest build that was available to him.

He started out on a build that didn't have the tutorials enabled, before restarting using the one that had them. Both builds were the 0.95 version, and at least some of the problems he ran into have been fixed since.

They still giving you grief about X4 being broken on release.
I'v watched hours of streams over the past two days and it looks to me to be among the most polished optimised games to be realised on PC for sometime. I still have to play it my self, but because of the facts I'v seen I cancelled my pre order and now have pre ordered the collectors edition :D Great Job Egosoft

I haven't bought any game as pre-order for several years, but I broke my rule after watching some of the streams yesterday and ordered X4 CE on Steam.

I really enjoyed patched Rebirth, but it felt kinda lacking in late-game content. X4 seems to have that feeling that X3 has and I really hope that Egosoft will keep developing it and we'll have a game to sink thousands of hours in the following years :)

fipmip wrote: Tue, 27. Nov 18, 04:47 We've all been here before. New X release, same devs likely doing the same things wrong. in approximately 4 days this forum will be a river of salt.

i recommend not preordering or buying on release day, and watching previews of the game before deciding to buy. as with any game really, but this one especially so.
I find it interesting that the first post you make, after joining is this.... Have you even played an X-Universe game or just trying to troll the boards to cause grief to get off on?

Personally, I have never really had any complaints of the X-Games considering the DEVS have always fixed bugs when they have been located. And with programs THIS complex it is impossible to squish all of them.

On that note, compared to previous releases, from announcement to release this game has undergone the longest testing to find and remove bugs of all the X-Universe games that I am aware of so I suspect this will be one released with the leased amount of bugs. Will it be free of bugs? Of course not... no program is. Will it crash? Probability. Will I cry when I lose things? Probability. Will I simply go and try to get the things lost back? Yes and hope the bug that caused me to crash can be duplicated so I can report it and it can be fixed.
It's not if we win or lose that matters, it's that we stood and faced it.

Well, Well, Well.

I gave it a week, to properly give people time to sort out what the game had going for it. Currently the front page has around four multipage threads of disappointed people. Most everything even slightly complex in this game is bugged or broken in some way, including, but not limited to, Autotrading, Automining, amateurish pathfinding (again), economic healthiness, drone inventory, station managers, boarding, guild missions and wars. dear oh dear, the damn wars? the main attraction of the game where the universe can drastically change based on the political thrashiings of the factions? say it aint so.

And from the community - reactionary, name calling posts in both this thread and others. cant say im surprised but damn it feels embarrassing to be a gamer sometimes. As for my opinion, for anyone that might be wondering, I consider this one of egos best releases, by which i mean i'm not impressed. ego doesn't get a free pass to release disguised early access launches just because they always do that. modern standards have changed, and this is what is going to happen every time unless ego can fully catch up on that. Let this thread stand as a momentary warning to not to give into hype, and wait until proper previews and stipulations have been called and confirmed. At least until you all forget again.
