In easy words, since I'm not a native english speaker - when the heat waves (just another spectrum of radiation) hit matter, they transform into heat. Anyways, today's space stations already struggle to get rid of the heat - that's because there is no matter to transfer the heat to, it has to radiate out again. It's pretty difficult. In that sense, a station so close to a sun is even unlikely in science fiction, but it looks cool.
