Okay, I just noticed, that I forgot to change the thread title. Now it states the correct version.

I have been working on V0.4 and I will need some more translated text in French. Can someone please translate these sentences?

Code: Select all

<t id="1">Open Comm Link</t>
<t id="2">Comm Link not available while docked</t>
<t id="3">No stations in Comm Link range</t>
<t id="4">No docks in Comm Link range</t>
<t id="5">No contacts in Comm Link range</t>

Indeed, I just checked it and it gives an error. However, you can still download version V0.2. I'll try to fix the download issue once I am home.

I'm using and loving this mod, even if the savegame etc etc it is a very good addition. I'm not one of those that hate the station landing, etc. but in principle the fact that you can make both adds a lot of realism to the gameplay. I also made the error to buy a shield and then to see it was not installed! I don't even remember where I bought it, with this kind of stations it is impossible to remember! Anyway, if you think, it makes sense, you can not buy/install shields from space!!

It would be nice if some differences could be implemented, such as there are some things you can not do from space and have to land, one is of course the installation of upgrades, etc. It should be made clear though (well I know it is not easy). I'd prefer to keep a minimum of realism such as some things can not be done in space, it would make the game much more enjoyable.

Thanks for the mod anyway!

Hi Realspace,

yeah, the realism stuff is on my agenda for V0.5. For V0.4 distance limitations will come, and for V0.5 I will try to disable specific actions like hiring, trading, upgrading etc.

However, I have only actually played very little of the game (1.5h) so I don't know most things which should be restricted. I would therefore ask all of you to provide me with suggestions of what exactly should be disabled/restricted (talking about conversation menu entries here; other things like disabling buying a specific product is probably out of scope).

Yes I'll do for sure! First thing is of course the installation of upgrades, so that you can see them but not install.
Thanks for this mod, it is most needed

I tested 0.3 last night, opinions follow

- categories with 0 NPC's available should probably be hidden.

- I have seen some NPC's simply called Merchant when on station but did not see one listed like that with the mod. Not sure if that is really an issue.

- money transfer messages queue up don't occur until exiting the interface
completely

- also messages like faction reporting to police queue up as well.. not really sure this a big deal.

- any way to shift PC focus directly to side monitor instead of the initial angle view?

In V0.4 I have disabled the buttons. I have thought about removing them, but I find it confusing since you are not sure whether it is a bug that you don't see e.g. engineers, or just because there are none. Explicit feedback is important for me.

I am using the entitytype enum to get NPCs. Maybe the merchant was forgotten to be added to the schema, but I don't have any way of finding that out sadly. In V0.4 you will be able to look for NPCs in a specific dock though, so it would be great if you could check again whether merchants really are not shown, once it is released.

I'm pretty sure I can't fix these, but I'll take them up into the list of known issues. And hey, maybe at some point I'll figure out how to do it.

I will look into this. I think the only way to do it right now is to shift the focus already when using the "Comm Link" menu option, since I don't have control over the initiated conversation. This would mean you would be staring at Yisha all the time. But again, I'll see what I can do.

With the actual game i just started i got the following problem:

Game 1.14
NESA 0.3

When i talk to an NPC and buy something of it, it works the first time. If i now talk to another NPC to initiate a trade it doesn't work anymore. Neither is the sound playing (show me bla) nor is the interface for trading opening.

To fix this i have to close the commuitation completely and reinitiate it. Now i can exactly 1 trade again before the screen isn't opening anymore.

Hope you got it the way i discribed it :)

Edit: i use the following mods the same time, maybe thats causing the problem...

- NESA
- Ignore Jump Drive Fuel
- Manual Command Extension
- Remove Detailmonitor Animation (!?)

Edit2:

Seems that NESA and Remove Detail Animation are indeed incompatible... since i deactivate RDA and restarted a new game it works well again.

The Nexus download is not functioning at all. So as of now no way to download your update. Could you check to make sure everything is ok? perhaps upload a secondary in the meantime.

Edit: Never mind its working after 20 reload attempts

this might sound stupid but dont remove trading.
in rebirth there is Item trading a very good consept ruined by the box looting

you see item trading is old school X trading you buy small goods like food or scrap at low price (hard to find) and sell them.

I never maid a profit in vanilla by doing so but with your mod I have :)

I love landing and I do it here and there , but for profiting landing is anoying

You sure those weren't 'Mechanics'? The two words look similar in the font used.

Very cool mod!!

just a question: is it possible to bind the feature to a "shipupdate" like a Communicationsoftware?

I liked to old mod-philosophies in X2/x3 that you have to buy shipupdates to get the modfeatures you want

I have not yet looked into ship updates, but I think it should be possible, yeah. Maybe in a future version I'll add support for it.

On a sidenote:
I am making huge progress with V0.4. I hope to release it within the next couple of hours.

Anyone else having issues with the ship builders not allowing you to buy a ship from outside? The button to purchase is greyed out but works fine when I go into the station.

I think I figured out how to remove the boarding animation, inside \cutscenes\EnterPlayerShip.xml put

Code: Select all

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<diff>
  <replace sel="/cutscene/environments">
    <environment_plot name="scenezone">
    </environment_plot>
  </replace>
</diff>
You can also remove the leaving animation by putting that inside \cutscenes\LeavePlayerShip.xml

Not the most ideal solution but it seems to be working fine, haven't fully tested it yet though

I'll look into adding that to the next version.

Good job!
Is it possible to remove the NPC types from the menu when they are empty (0 NPC of this type around) ?

Sounds like an interesting mod, considering how underdeveloped the stations are at this point.

That nexus forum presents a download option to guests that always ends with an error when choosing a server. Registration is touted as free, but when registering you're immediately presented with a dozen "support plans".
If that's a fan created site, it needs work. Because it comes across like a scam.

I don't touch Nesa_Config. But the menu mode isn't good. it's a 2 in the files and in the game it's the 4 this use

Yeah, I will add an option for this in V0.5.

The Nexus network of sites has a long history and is definitely not a scam. It's one of the best modding sites out there. And I think it's fine if they try to get you to support them (considering that they actually have 4 employees, lots of servers, use ridiculous amounts of bandwidth etc.).

And since creating an account is totally free after all, I don't see a problem.

You mean it shows you stations first, then docks, then contacts, even though the mode is set to 2? That would be very strange indeed. Please make sure that you only have one copy of the NESA_Config.xml in your extensions folder, and that the mode is really set to 2. If both is true for you, I really have no idea. Maybe you can set the mode to something else, boot the game, see if it changes something, and then set the mode back to 2.
