I caught wind of Bernd referencing GTA with 3 stars being used in XR.
No god mode, those are normal game values. The GTA reference meant that even once you get a station hostile it will just return to friendly after a while.

Re: GTA stars and faction relations... I am HOPING Rebirth's system will be a combination of GTA (where police attention increases as you do more bad stuff and wanes slowly as you escape and lie low) and the existing relation system from X2/X3 (where repeatedly doing good stuff makes factions more trusting, and repeatedly doing bad stuff makes them less trusting.)

So if you've been up to a LOT of bad stuff, the police would react faster and in greater force, or would be hostile by default. But if you've been up to a lot of good stuff, they'll not be as suspicious of you (it COULDN'T be him that just shot up our station, we know he's a good guy!)

Again... that's the hope. I'd like to know more about how that all works personally...

Hmm 1.19 ish the big bug ship thing is colliding with the station if you see before the guy controlling the ship quickly sees and is probably told or just does it and moves the camera from that happening.

How old is that build and will that kind of thing be fixed before release?

Also later as he looks at the front again the pillar it was flying into vanishes at 1.27.

Very strange.

Edit - hmm seems i wasnt the only one who saw it as i just looked at some posts above and had seen a few references to it.

On the basis of the last three, I would suspect the fourth will be released on Friday, Oct 11th.

Of course. They are illegal. This worsens your reputation. But the negative impacts on your reputation will usually prevent you from buying anything. I mean, if you are an enemy...
Also, there is another change: you can now be an enemy of a station for a short time without being an enemy of the entire faction. Basically, this is a bit like GTA, where you have your police prosecution status, which is very high for a short period of time. But if you cannot be identified permanently afterwards, the impact on your reputation will not be that huge. That's important, too.

Hmm, im starting to get more worried the more videos i see :(

There seem to be no real consequences of your hostile actions towards a station or even the small ships, who just sit there like sitting ducklings who dont care if they live or die.

To me, the X games where more about trading and building, rather then fighting stuff. But most of what we see, is fighting with a rather dumped down AI.
I even fear, that i cant even become i real trader, like in the old X games, due to the fact you can only fly one ship. Sure i understand you can trade a few simple things with the shunk. But you will never become a real trader, as all trading is done by the AI.

Sure, i can only judge by what i see, and thats what i do. So for now, this is not a "buy at release" for once.
I will wait for a realistic review comparing this to the old X games, and see what they say about trading and building your empire.

BTW, in 3rd part:
1) Omicron Lyrae! And that massive black hole in background - Black Hole Sun, I wonder?
2) It's my imagination or one of civilian ships looks like StarFlier from Freelancer (small ship with 3 engines)?
3) LAG. Arsaneus, if you can share such info - what system was used for this demonstration?

EDIT: Forgot about one small but interesting detail: at the start, you can see game menu. There is "Extensions" - what's that, ingame mod loader\manager? If so, that's cool!

Apparently the highways áre one-way traffic. So, be sure to enter the right one or it'll cost you a lot of time. Bummer.

Hmm... New fears from this part 3. Observations only from pictures, as I don't understand german :

1) Stations and ships are not aggressive enough and reset too fast. I should not be able to attack and deal so much damage without any response. I should not be able to attack or destroy something, with aggressiveness reseted to 0 ten seconds later...
2) WTF with the station turret ? So now big weapons can only fire on big ships ? The only threat for us is small weapon ? No more "particle photon canon" style ?( very slow and improbable to hit fast target, but if we get hit by one projectile, we loose 50% shield)
3) When a civilian ship is attacked or destroyed, the others around don't try to flee out the threat ?
4) WTF with the food freighter (TM or TL like), with absolutely no weapon ? Even TS had 1 turret in previous games... Moreover, 0 response from police, station, or other ships, despite they was very close to the player...

Waiting for clarification, i'm really afraid :cry:

Acording to the consequences of attacking ships and/or stations:

Hostile reactions were tuned down a little bit from prio versions as they tended to wipe the player off too fast. But he also says that this scenery may be a little bit too forgiving, so I think it's still in the balacing process. He additionally mentioned that some stations (of certain corps) may not react to ship vs. ship combat in their proximity because of their general attitude towards helping the other corporations or they simply doesn't care.

1 is answered above, 2 seems to be this way, yes

4: It actually had turrets but the gamestar dude got lucky and killed the starboard turret pretty fast, you can see the port turret firing at him near the end of the ships lifespan. And more importantly: The first action he did with this freigther was to fly in the bug-hangar thingie and shot down the drone launch bay, so we do not know how the response may have been with this bay active.

I could write a brief summary of the videos if tthere is sufficient demand. :P

1) This is probably a "tuned down" version to run while having a conversation. If a real battle would break loose the interviewer is likely distracted and the interview would go nowhere.

2) Hmm.. well you do not use a tactical nuke to blow up a bicycle do you? Those "small" weapons are likely fast enough to track you down, and they are probably "tuned down" also. I think in reality they are much stronger, and your ship is not "God" any longer. They probably shred you to pieces. No need for heavier stuff... :wink:

I don't know if anyone noticed it, but one of choices in the menu's was "Debug", so very likely the game was running in debug mode, and that means "god mode" and "high attack trigger" + "fast cool down". Ideal for debugging - and show something while interviewing.

3) Probably on auto pilot? In safe area's (where police is patrolling) emergency flight is not likely needed and it probably takes time to "unlock" the auto pilot. However - you have a point here. I must say however this also has been the case in the older X series. There it was not that obvious, because local traffic was sparse and not flying in lanes.

4) In the older X series you have to install an weapon in the turret slot, otherwise you where defenseless also. I also think it has something to do with the "Debug" mode as described above.

Just speculating, but I do think I'm not very wrong here.

It is really quite amazing how small of details people will scrutinize from these videos. Suddenly, one tiny aspect of the game (whether big guns track small ships) becomes one of the most beloved parts of the earlier games.

In part 3 at 26:30, the guy enters a highway and gets kicked out again.
But maybe the "double junction" highway is two-way.
