Yes, you have to take it with a pinch of salt, but if a graphics card anywhere between 2 and 3 and a half times more performing is running at 10FPS on full graphics... they need to rethink the spec, at least. ;)
I think that's the intended final specs.

There's a few months of final optimization to go before then, whether they reach it or not is debatable, but it's not too surprising that it'd run like crap at the moment.

Not, I didn't go to the show, that's taken from the stickies that have been up for years. Bernd said we control our capital ship by telling the captain what to do, and he said we can talk to NPCs on our capital ship. Conclusion: we can order the captain from onboard. That's what I've been saying all this time.

i doubt demo has the all the latest tech optmizations.
such software never does, as it was probably created from and earlier verison of X.
Split say NEED MORE FIREPOWER!!

Actually The more info I read about the game, the more I see, the less it sounds like a X game.

No direct trading?
1 ship?
Renamed weapons?
only able to use 1 weapon at a time (and missles)?
Fruity looking space?
no gate travel?
the Skunk is as manouverable as a drone?
some of the races have been taken out?

Im not saying I wont like the game, but it doesnt sound like a X game. Sounds like they've realy dumbed it down. The only thing that ties this to X is the X in the name.

Still havent heard anything about property management or maps.

Might be, might not be, we're still not 100% sure. As I've said before, it'll probably make a comeback.
Yes well, we've known that one for years.
Not really that important.
I always found it strange we could change weapons the fly anyway.
Meh, the graphics are nice.
Gates will be in.
Not really an issue?
Not confirmed as of yet, but we know we have Argon, Teladi, Xenon, Split. There was a map shot somewhere that looked Paranid in name, and the Boron should be in contact with them because of the events after AP, so who knows.

It seems pretty certain that talking with an owned capital ship captain, either directly on board or through the intercom, you'll be able to open an order interface (go there, protect X, attack capital ships, attack fighters, patrol from X to Y, etc.).

Now I'm very excited about this tactical interface thingy. I've been dreaming of such a thing to better control a battle in X and feel like a real admiral! What I really hope is that such an interface will be available on your capital ships, so that you can direct the battle from the deck of such things, for full immersion. It would be a bit silly to have to lock yourself in the Skunk to do it. If not it should be easily moddable...

I also hope you can use the VR drone command of the Skunk while docked on a capital ship. So that you may participate in a dogfight using a fighter drone from the safety of a behemoth...

How would the Skunk be able to launch a drone while docked ?

Besises, the devs clearly intend the playership to be very special, with unique abilities.

Well we know we can launch drones not under VR control, so presumably we can take control of them later. It'd be interesting if we could launch a drone, dock on a ship, and sit in the Skunk whilst docked using the VR headset but I doubt it.

Yeah, either you are docked, or you are are not.
If you are docked the Albion systems , including VR, are off.

How do you know that? It's how it worked in previous games. If it's as you say, it means you have to be a sitting duck every time you use a drone in combat - or trust your copilot's AI to not get you killed. Meaning you would seldom be able to pilot a light fighter (because drones MUST replace the ability to pilot different ships) in this game, which would be sad :(

Of course the Skunk does seem as agile as a fighter and I guess you can upgrade it toward more speed and maneuvrability but then you can't just switch quickly from a M6-like piloting to a M3-M4 one according to the situation for instance...

In the video, Bernd explains that boosting costs shield energy, indicated by the upper-left cockpit screen with the percentage on it. Not sure if this has been said before. Anyway, now you know where shields are shown, too.

Also, at around 6:35 you see the rings in the HUD in action. The white ring (the larger one) is for targets, and the yellow ring inside points to mission objectives. He explains that a few minutes earlier.

At around 10:40, Bernd flies close to the enemy capital ship and explains that he is now locked to it, meaning the Albion will follow it and also rotate with it, should it do so. This, he explains, is the way close battle with the surface elements of the capital ships are made possible.

At around 11:40, Bernd explains that the freighters you see there carry real wares, NOT ones that are spawned for the player. They carry wares from one station to another, and if you destroy them, these wares are missing in the universe. He also specifically says that everything in the game is constructed from resources.

At 12:10, capital ship battle. The mission automatically targets surface elements on the enemy capital ship to shoot at. Interestingly, at 12:35 he says you can fly inside the enemy ship and fire around in the hangar (you see the hangar there).
Also nice to see: the capital ship actually hits you really well, because the bullets are fast. This used to be my biggest letdown in the other X games, that bullets were too slow to hit things. Bernd says, without strafing you get damaged badly real quick.

At 13:17 he mentions that he probably wouldn't be able to destroy the capital ship without the other fighters on his side.

Indeed, although this doesn't necessarily mean that no spawning occurs. There may still be some spawning going on.

Here's what he says: "Every ship that I destroy carries wares, and these are not wares that we spawn or spawn for the player, but are actually carried from one station to another and have a real influence on the economy. Everything in our game is truly produced by resources - resources that have to be mined."

Looking forward to meaningful NPC supply chains - mostly because that means I can disrupt them. :twisted:

And if that really DOES mean EVERYTHING - ships and drones and stations included... that's pretty badical.

This sounds like they really want to look into early access on steam then! get it into the public so that people can mod and work on it, but giving it's got early access plastered on and you can put on the store page whats upcoming and what's available. and the fact it's early access means people will expect it to be a little...rough round the edges.

First, it is part of the definition of "docked", in any situation.
