Looks Like I may have to call in sick for work that day.
:P

Still I would like to know why it will not be released as a hard copy release (ie DVD).
It would look nice on my shelf next to all the others.
I remember the good old days of playing games just after midnight as the release date ticked over. Steam may save me going to the shops late at night but in return I have to wait an extra 20hours to play a game I'm excited about.

I'm going to upgrade my PC just for this.

BTW, any plan for pre-purchase bonus on Steam?

Umm... I make it 5am Saturday the 16th of Nov.

All great news for the release, not so good for my relationship, though.

Ah well sacrifices must be made -- she'll get over it.

Crap. Should have known that. Not to worry. No beers Friday night. Early rise for the download

So, having bought X2, X3, Terran Conflict and Albion Prelude around launch dates. Someone doing heavy performance modding on the X3 parts, even after upgrading to new high end hardware about a year ago...

how badly is this going to run at launch?

Will it be modable again, to remove all the fog, mini asteroids, screenfilling spam weapons etc?

you'll be able to get a hard copy of the shelf and activate it on steam so don't worry about the download. but in terms of download I think they said the game is only 8GB
I used to list PC parts here, but "the best" will suffice!

Off the shelf it is then. I want it on my shelf.

If anything it'll run far better than X3 due to the multicore support. Super smooth graphics incoming.

Just dropping by to say that the trailers look amazing (and promising), and I can't wait to play the game ;) . This game might very well give Star Citizen's devs a run for their (donated) money - especially when we compare these trailers with those ship-advertorial "trailers" they made.

Ahhh, as I predicted, the pathetic and infamous 'X Rebirth Release Date Thread' has been consigned to oblivion, and in a blink of an eye is now gone forever, and good riddance to it all, I say.

So Thanks Egosoft People! :) Looking forward to the game now, as always, and I will be sending my cash to you SoonTM.

@ Fitzy @ co: It will be good to get a confirmation when the Australian off the shelf will be available, which I'm sure will happen, but if Egosoft follows tradition, I will be ordering my hard copy directly from the Egosoft online shop, as usual. (that's how I got my DVD ROMS of TC and AP). So if you mean how to get a retail boxed copy, (and not literally off the shelf), I can recommend it as a reliable way to get your copies.

As long as Egosoft continues making it available from here.

Excellent news! I am sure many long term Egosoft fans including myself have been silently lurking for this. :) Congrats to the full Ego team!

Star Citizen is a force to be reckoned with. Pretending otherwise is silly. (And a few Egosoft devs have pledged a lot of money for it, BTW.)

However, you could be right anyway.

You watch, I'll spend $1,000 on SC and $50 on Rebirth, and then I'll spend 10x as much time playing Rebirth...

I still believe in Egosoft and will always be a loyal fan... they've done a good job of keeping me in space while Chris Roberts was off doing other things. :)

I think Egosoft has already worked out our doom, because Xenon AI will reach the stars! :D
