No clue. Everything works fine without IR. I can even use the old IR.

All of Luckies script collection with a few exceptions
MARS
SMART
and a few more of Gazzs scripts.

Everything else is just cosmetic like immersive environments and a no fog mod.

Its just a test save so no need for a fix. I appreciate it though. If you would like it for debugging purposes this could help:

Ran about 3 game hours on SETA, nothing unusual performance-wise.

On another note, Jack can you set the Argon and Terrans to be foes in the Hot War preset? They're still set to be friends.

Admitting you have a problem is the first step in figuring out how to make it worse.

  • Version 1.05

The preset was designed for TC, id rather keep it friendly to both games, ill add a second preset next patch

hey jack. Sorry dude, I'm only here to spam your thread :)

I've posted a thread here of a script pack i've written with fancy menu graphics that I'm gonna release a library for - so anyone can incorporate them into their script/mod if they feel it's appropriate. I'm just posting a heads-up in the popular script/mod package threads so authors can investigate and see if they're interested. Hit me up with any questions.

Not much in IR really needs a menu system like that, and X-Timelines already has Its own GUI System

but it does look cool ;)

Guys, id like some feedback on the following subjects, so i can see if anything needs improvement:

Fleet Sizes (Assault Fleets, and Response Fleets)
Number of concurrent active invasions (current limit is Races*2 (Active Races only) )
Balance, in both Vanilla, XRM, or any other mods you may be running (Balance meaning, are IR fleets balanced against each other, is something happening that causes one side to always win, ect ect)

Should i add a fleet size variation option to allow for larger (or smaller) fleets?

Performance: This is a tricky one to answer because performance is quite hard to measure and discern when using scripts and mods, what im mostly looking at there is script load. Has anyone noticed any persistent slowdown ( not the kind of slowdown that happens when watching large battles :D )

The new carrier logic: Seen it in action?

Any other feedback you have would be welcome also :)

This is more question than feedback but, since you asked...

1) I tried IR2 a month or so ago. It crushed overall game performance, even with no apparent activity in-sector. (RRF does the same thing, btw.)

I might have tried to tune it up except for:

2) I am somehow missing the point of IR (and RRF). I installed both because people recommend them for improving combat difficulty. However, my short-term observation was more like it increased REPUTATION difficulty rather than doing anything to combat. And I do not understand the value of NPC-vs-NPC battles (seems like a waste of bandwidth?).

I *do* like the idea of races providing a much stronger reaction to my boarding and piracy raids. But it is no fun when it wrecks my reputation. That just requires slogging through a bunch of boring rep-building missions every time something fun happens. :)

So my questions are:

A) How do I tune IR to only react to (attack) the player?

B) How do I avoid trashing race reputation every time I have a skirmish with an IR response group?

And/or:

C) What am I misunderstanding about all of this? :)

Thats kind of imposable, i only released IR2.0 a few days ago, this is Not IR 15.29, it shares practically No code with IR 15.29, all core functions were rewritten from scratch.
A) How do I tune IR to only react to (attack) the player?
Its not possible without significant modifications to the IR Core, and goes against the entire spirit of the script.
B) How do I avoid trashing race reputation every time I have a skirmish with an IR response group?
Dont attack your allies? :P The reputation loss is handled by the game, not IR - if your friends with absolutely everyone then i don't think IR is your type of plugin
C) What am I misunderstanding about all of this?
I have no idea to be honest... I love a good race war, NPC's fighting over control for the sectors. Also when combined with NPC Bailing add-on adds a new game-play element of salvager, as ships are bailing all over the universe.

I mean isn't this fun? (Click to enlarge, source: X-Timelines Closed Beta 1.0)

(Note: the overlay at the top of the screen has not been included in this version of IR, it will be added sometime in the future when i am able to modify it to be non-XTL Reliant)

1. Impossible, it was released 6 days ago

2. Why to install both IR and RRF if they try to fill the same gap in game and it will cause just chaos in your game.

And i believe you didnt configured (turned ON) your IR if you didnt noticed race wars and invasions.

Haha... oops! Sorry, my bad. As I said, I had more questions than feedback! :)

Not so much friends, and I don't mind losing a rep level when I board a ship. But going from level 10 to negative for a single raid does not seem "sporting" to me. *Shrug*... maybe it is as you say... just not my thing.

On the other hand, you are not only a talented modder, but also a good Windows programmer and assembly-language-reverse-engineering kind of guy. So if anybody could "fix" race relations after a skirmish, it would be you. (Maybe save race rep before the IR response, then fix afterwards? By "fix" I do not mean a full restore, but an appropriate adjustment.) Only if you want to, obviously. :)

It would be fun if they were attacking *me*. :P

Partially kidding... OK, so I can understand some sport in watching a battle, but not if it clobbers my overall performance. Which, as you pointed out, I have not tested in IR2. So I will get on that. :)

@Shuulo: I think you misunderstood my post completely. But thanks for trying to help! :)

Tricky, Very tricky... there are far to many states involved in detecting, saving and restoring relations in this manor via script, and if i did it via KC Assembly then... id break everyone save game every time egosoft released a patch, and every time i updated the mod :( witch is why most of the KC changes in XTL have stayed there, just too many save game compatibility issues without the correct tools; we have to be incredibly careful to release XTL only when its ready, or face the rage of fans when we break there save games :(

Although on the subject of game mechanics, would you easily be friends with me again if i turned around and obliterated your entire fleet because i felt like it? :P

personally i usually side with Terrans and Argon (TC Relations), and go after the Paranoid and Split with a vengeance... or sometime play as a complete pirate with no friends what so ever (except the pirates :D)

Running IR on vanilla is really not recommended, the Laser effects and balance destroy the performance of the game ( example: The same battle with XTL Internal Alpha files results in appropriately 40 FPS, whereas in vanilla, i get 3 FPS - im going to talk to TrixX and see if we can adapt the XTL Laser effects for the vanilla game ;) )

Hmm, I wonder how fast will Terrans go down if IR will use the "actual" AP relations - everyone hates Terrans? :D :D

I'll check when I have a bit more free time for extensive testing how does IR affect XRM war between Terrans and Argon (for now I've kept hot war off)
