Marines or pods will not launch.

Okay looks like Marvin has gone to bed, can any other expert sugest how I use the barrage of pods or launch all marines without a target? I have got 2 ships on the sector list to choose from, my Cobra or my adv. sat., do I command my troops to mutiny or attempt to board a sat.??

Still here ;) I have yet to buy my first M7M let alone board an Aran, I just know where the command is. Sorry I can't be of more help.
I am up to 8 5* marines though so will acquire a Cobra when a couple more are out of training and go Aran hunting, I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks Marvin, really impressed you know so much about a ship you have never flown and I was under the impression Mars was a bit uncomfortable to fall asleep.
Good luck on the Aran hunting, May Egosoft go with you.
Come on you experts, I'm taking advice from a martian who has never flown an M7M and never seen never mind boarded an Aran. Can someone who has done this, tell me how this magic trick works?

I’m at work now, so can’t verify this precisely, but, iirc:
From the additional command, launch marines, the Aran appears as an option if she’s already enemy to you. That is, did you hear the “fighting” beep and music? Are you sure you were close enough when using the repair laser?
If you are still stuck later today, I think I have a save made just before boarding the Thing. I’ll look at it.

Not sure if barrage will work, I've always used the board command under piracy. Anyways, if they say it works, then the Aran is not yet enemy. Is the combat music on? If not, try to use our repair laser a little bit more.

I did hear enemy proximity beep hours ago and when I checked the sector chart could see no enemy, so took this as an indication Aran was enemy. I did however give the Aran a further hour of repair laser before trying to board.
Could I be too close a range for the repair laser? I did try diferent distances but most of it has been since I bumped up against the hull. I will try boarding under the piracy command but I think this also needs a target.

Oh, I had the save on my Laptop and could try again now, so:
- Come near the Aran
- Fire repair laser (you know it works when you see the light of soldering).
- 20 second later I got the combat beep & music.
- Then Command Console>Additional ship Commands>Launch All Marines>Nearest ship: Aran (I haven’t try the „barrage“ one)
- „We are at the target!”

EDIT: vzbruzual is right. Piracy works well too, but not barrage (the M7M switchs back to Flail missiles and vaporizes the Aran)

Just had another two hours with the repair laser, from inside the hangar this time, I always make sure I have the welding sparks whilst repairing. Nothing doing though and now running out of missiles as I had to dispatch another Q that was playing cat and mouse with me. I will have to leave if I run out of missiles, will look at your pictures before giving it a final go.

Eject all missiles until you only have boarding pods, you can now issue the barrage command and it will launch your marines. Don't forget to collect your dumped cargo...

Your pictures behold a hidden world. When I saw picture 3 I saw a screen not seen before!
I returned to the game and clicked on boarding from piracy menu and sure enough if you look for it I just get a flashing glimpse of that picture 3 screen which offers nearest ship or select ship before disapearing to the universe screen. I have tried several times with a lighter, quicker touch but that selection screen will not stay for more than a fraction of a second, this is part of the problem. The second part I think is previously I had two turrets set to destroy enemy I think the game in a misguided effort to help the player may not allow setting of Aran to enemy if this causes its iminent destruction.
So what I need is expert advice on:-
1. How to stop the game missing out the screen in picture 3.
2. Confirmation that the turrets setting are stopping the Aran turning enemy in which case all I need to do is reset turrets to none.
Unfortunately, after the site's cabal discracefull performance last night(see Carlo's reply to me in the NBT. thread), a prompt reaction on this is not likely!

Sounds like you are inviting for your post to be ignored... :P

Anyway, something completely left field...

1. What happens if you use the keyboard to go through the process rather than the mouse???

2. What is your Friend or Foe settings for the Goner? In other words did you change the turret command to stop it firing or did you change the FoF setting?

The Aran is a neutral object when first encountered, it does not belong to any of the races you can change you FOF settings for. Wouldn't need to use the repair laser otherwise.

I you have your ships turrets set to attack enemies, they will open fire on the Aran when you turn it hostile with the repair laser.

I’m glad the pictures were of any use :)

2. The answer is probably no, as said in the post above. I set the Kraken’s turrets to “attack all enemy” (but she has only 4 missiles turrets, no laser), and missiles fire 0% = same result, Aran “red” and boarding successful. Then I tested missiles fire 100% = Aran “red” and destroyed in 10 seconds by Flails.

1. It looks like a technical issue. If you want I can PM you a link for my old save, so you could test if the boarding is also successful on your PC (I’m running patch 3.0, Vanilla).

Why are your turrets active in the middle of dead space?

Turrets should not shoot the Aran when set to "missiles only" mode.

Boarding the Aran is even easier with the speed booster on your ship. It allows you to keep far ahead of potential enemy capital ships when racing to the Aran.

Thanks everyone for helping me out of a tight spot. I hope you forgive me I reply by subject rather than adviser. Having said that my first point has to answer vr01 but applies to everyone who assists me.
On the point of being isolated by the powers that be last night, it might not have been the best way to marshal support but if any of you helped me out without my warning you what you were getting in to, I could not live with one of you resenting it a month later finding yourself in my position. Telling you of my experience with the secret corrupt cabal that runs this site was the least I could do. All I can say is, thank GOD Carlo was either honest or drunk enough to give the game away!
1. I am not good at learning keyboard commands so I do tend to rely on the excellent mouse control for selection in this game, however when I was looking for that missing pic.3 screen I noticed the letters by the commands in the piracy menu and gave it a whirl, the screens still flashed straight through to the universe sellection screen. Anyone who can advise me on correcting the setting that is causing this malfuntion I'd be much obliged, this is the main problem.
2. I was asked why my turrets were active in dead space, this was not dead space but Xenon infested forgetting the hordes I dispatced before finding the Aran, I dispatched 2x Q and a P while repair lasering the Aran. Of course I was reluctant to leave my cobra with its turrets turned off, it does however look like I am going to have to risk it for a biscuit. Not however until problem 1. is solved.

I am still following this for my next attempt at capping the Aran.
I don't think I desrve the "vet" praises until I can cap a few ships. I need practice a certain plot anyway.

Going for the Aran as it seems to be a straight forward capp,if everything falls into place.
The only other capping was for the PHQ.

Sure I have had a few bails,but i call that luck.
It's boarding to cap that is more of a skill to me.
Get that right and I'm of to get a few Atmos-Lifters .
Then get on with BoP....when we get the patch 3.1 .

Aran as part of Boarding development.

Like you TTD I had Aran hunting as part of my Boarding development but I have a different order of major projects. My major projects were:-
1. Cap Lifters. DONE.
2. Cap Hyperions. DONE.
3. Cap Arans, having trouble with the site experts.
4. Cap Tyres, hopefully.
5. Cap Xenon Capitals, cannot wait to earn some money out of them murdering tin can scum.

Just adding a repeat of my previous pleas for help on the following points:-
1. Repair Laser does not seem to be making Aran Enemy?
2. My piracy comand system is bypassing the board nearset ship/select ship to board screen, which aparently is essential for boarding the Aran, how do I correct this malfunction?
