I found this fool to be... Lacking compared with previous years. Not enough zanyness perhaps, or not far enough 'Out there'. But it was... Dull. Yup, thats the word. Dull.

Also, it wasn't helped by the fact that those that cottoned on spoiled it for everyone else within the first handful of posts. Would it have taken too much effort to keep schtum or to play along for a couple of hours?

Heh. You should've seen the German forums. People totally lost it - Result, several banned users, loss of avatar permissions in some cases and a 24 page thread comprised of dozens of spam posts and threads that were later split and merged.

From my point of view (I have not read the whole 22 pages in the german OT Board) both, the members as the moderators took the "joke" a bit too serious. Topics were closed for no reason (one had over 1000 pages) before the users started to rebell against the new moderators. The Avatarpermissions were taken because a user had the same avatar as a former moderator, which was forbidden without announcement. Could explain some more things, it all ended up in some temporary bans, the banned users only reacted in the given topics about the new moderators, didn't disturb anything else on the message board. Being banned for no reason without knowing that the whole thing is only made up might disturb one or the other...

So yeah, the "crazy" germans once again lost it, and toady the moderators are complaining about the bad behaviour of the members while the members are saying they felt threatened and just wanted to protect their community and never had fun during the whole joke...

Next time: clear rules for the superior lobby in such a joke and clarification when things start to get out of control.

Last to say: In my opinion the whole thing was pretty civilian and not worth any trouble. I was moderator in the biggest Hip Hop Messageboard in europe for 6 years (I was young and addicted to bad music! I've changed, I promise

), so I know how real flamewars are
