Basically, the xml file in the spk looks like it might be missing stuff that is part of DUM 3.026 and later.

Compare it to the current file on your website and you'll see what I mean.

Oh lol, yes I know, that is because the text file contains text for all my scripts, I need to update the .spks and .zips so all contain the most current t file, however this will only matter if you install say the empire viewer and then the DUM, in which case DUM will be fine but EV will recieve read errors because part of the file is missing, that why I placed the most current t file on the site, so that if people have problems they can download, I will update all once I get home.

I'm getting the same problem too, Rudder optimisation is fine, just engine tunning dosent get upgraded :evil: :P

Im also having a bit of problems with the Dock Manager.

1: When I installed the script initially, there where no text when I tried to but a new licens. I fixed this by adding the ware text file? from this topic manually into my r3 folder.

2: Now when I do the autoupdate in my PHQ it installs items I don't want installed (meaning I have edited the group for m3/m4/m5 not to include fx. trade software mk3) on my ships. Still it updates everything.

3: Even though I have purchased rudder optimization and engine tuning it dosen't update it automatic.

4: The shield upgrade dosen't work. I had 30 m4 to update with 2x5 MJ shield. I have 280 of those shields in the PHQ. Still none of them was upgraded.

When I run the automatic update I get a message saying it coulden't intall alot of equepment because I don't have a licens for it - which is true. But is it suppose to do this?
Also alot of the equipment I haven't gotten licens for have been turned off in the autoupdate manager - why does it try and install it anyway?

I am having problems with the engine tuning upgrade. I have been trying to upgrade an LX with basic stuff like cargo, rudder, engine, fight Mk1 and 2. All of the other upgrades work but the only one that doesnt is engine tuning. I did buy the liscense and it shows as installed on the purchase menu.
Any help would be appreciated cause this is one of my favorite mods now.

This may be because 5MJ is not the highest shield type it can install, also shields have to be activated for this group in the groups list, though it sounds like you are haveing different problems with this anyway so you still probably can't install shields, if it is trying to install shilds but not capable you will recieve a message telling you which shield are not being installed

It should send you a message if you have asked to upgrade a ware in your group but don't have licenses for it, again you will have problems as your licenses management system sounds like it has a problem anyway.

EDIT:
@Seldum : by the way just because you don't have those activated for m/3m4/m5 group doesn't mean they are not active for the other groups therefore if a different ship type of yours is landed you will still get the message telling you it was or wasn't installed

Having tested on my computer I can find nothing wrong with the version, I can install engine tuning and rudder optimisation, I had to rebuy the licenses because of the new version but apart from that everything worked correctly.
Things I tested:
1) Before purchasing the engine tuning license or rudder I checked to see if the upgrader would install these. (wanted outcome is no). It did not and gave me the message telling me I did not have licenses this was correct outcome.
2) I then purchased the licenses, the license turned to purchased and upto auto upgrading they were installed correctly, with correct message

If you are having problem please make sure you understand all the screenshots and instructions on this post
btw engine and rudder will no longer show up on the view all licenses screen, I will try and fix this but because the way they are stored is different it may not be possible.

Update:

Version 3.031

Changes from 3.027 - 3.031
-> New setable jump range added for calling idle ships to dock
-> New Docking Upgrade added : Once active it will install upgrades according to your groups in all ship types automatically, and keep checking to see if any new ships need upgrading, i.e. those that dock or when you change the custom settings or buy new licenses.

If you want to know how to use these please ask

sweet the new ability for it to automaticly work will be of great use!

Though tell me, is it activated when a ship docks, or does it run every so often and runs a scan for docked ships?

Runs every so often

All it really does is run auto upgrade on all ships, but on a loop and without the messages. Although I set the successfully upgraded items to be displayed in the log file, so if you want to check what it is upgrading just check the log.

Sweet, and thank you again, this will make the script much more varried in its uses, being able to send ships from production or shipyard to a trade station or HQ for automatic upgrades befopre they join their brethren in my fleet :D

-> Add option in ship commands so that you can install Engine and Rudder Upgrades manually rather than only with auto upgrade
-> Blanked out option to auto upgrade one ship when not docked at one of your equipment docks or other upgrading station.

Firstly, i want to thank you very much for putting your time into making this script, as i feel without your work and work of other scripters this game wouldn't be half as interesting as it is :) Frankly, some of the work i see here should have already been in the game.

Now back to business :) - when i installed the script i found that even though i buy a license for Engine Tunings, the script displays its status as "installed" but when i want to auto-upgrade fighter ships docked at HQ it does everything but complains that Engine Tuning license is not installed. Rudder and Cargo Bay extension are being installed fine.
When i go do a fighter and try to manually upgrade its Engine i get to the window with the progression bar and am able to upgrade its engine speed manually without a problem. My guess that an introduction of the progress bar had altered something in the script, thus resulting above error ;)

Another issue im having is that when i select an option to upgrade shields, it only upgrades 1 shield at a time and does not stop there even when ship has already got max shields. I got 6x25mj shelds on my xenon lx for example and it also wanted to get extra 1x 125mj shield for an eclipse docked there (it can only have 1 of this type) but this type of shield wasnt available at the HQ.

Ok, well the shields will only install the max possible for that type it can't do more than possible because it is not physically possible, I don't understand because I keep testing this from scratch i.e. new game and everything and I never have problem, I must run more tests. as the manual method is working I know that the license is fine it is just the bit in the auto that needs fixing, so will look at this when I get home.

As for the shields - i definitely have enough of them in stock at the HQ. Wolf's Auto Upgrade script works fine, upgrading shields to the max and not touching those ships whose shields are already maxed out.

Well, I just added a part that removes the shields first then puts the max on for the simple reason that if you have a 1mj shield on a ship capable of taking 5mjs then it wont max out, apart from that the script is the same and should act so.

Hmm, i did tests with a blank LX docked (produced) - no shields were present at all, it received 1x 25mj shield. But there was also another LX docked (captured) with 1mj shield, it also got 1x 25mj shield. my personal LX was also docked, with 5x 25mj shields which got 1 extra making it 6x 25mj shields. Hope this helps.

Hmm that is wierd especially as I thought the game was hardcoded to not allow you to install more shields than the max aloud amount, well like I said I will look into this when I get home, thanks for your help

i think i'v mistaken - the 1mj shield was actually a 1 BHEPT on a captured shield :roll: sorry for a mixup! :(

as for adding part that removes existing shields off a ship - does it offload them to an HQ cargo bay or just destroys them?

I was thinking something about a script that offloads all the junk that comes with a captured ship to a carrier\tl\station so it can be sold later, leaving just a blank ship that can later receive shields\weapons through templates. Would something like that be easy to implement?

It adds them to the HQ. That should be fairly easy, I already have made a list containing all the ware types for my Player Owned Shipyards script so only need to take it from that.

What is a captured shield btw?
