heavily scripted to XFP works fine too.

Lost all my Terracorp Combat Pilots and their rankings though.

Also lost ship engine, cargobay and rudder upgrades.

Also lost complexes, but they reconnected easily enough.

Great job. Really sorry I lost my few hundred combat pilots. They were a long time in raising...

one small problem:

is there any way to turn off the collision detection part of your script?

i had a complex where all the stations were very very close together, after import the stations have been moved about making it impossible to connect them all into a single complex.

You could remove the script "plugin.stl.x3.collisiondetect.xml" from your "scripts" folder ;)

(But at your own risk, not recommended :P )

Doing this should work for this special case - I do, however, not at all recommend doing this for other scripts without knowing what you're doing, it only works in special cases (like this)! :)

Same problem here.
Though, I managed to reconnect all my stuff by using the 'set' instruction which allow to move a station within a 10km range.

X2-X3 Converter . Problem

Post by jacare »

Hi
I ´ve installed this mod and when I go to descompress in the menu a sound appears and a message say:

"There was a problem in line ReadText 8758-2 - string "null" could not be read. Started with next line .

And stop.

So what can be happen???

Thanks

So, nothing happened after that?

I just found a script error with the message output of that error message there - but that was not the problem. :D

The message must have had a prefix, like "1 - There was a problem in line ReadText 8758-2 - string "null" could not be read. Started with next line.". This number (1 in this case) is important for me to know.

Could you also send me the textfile to the email-address in the readme?

I tried converting old XTM0.6 to XTM0.7. All the vanilla ships appear fine. but the ships from XTM0.6 are all mixed up. I get the oddest ships - maybe Terran or Sohnen, or something. As a large part of my fleet are frigates, and I have a Leviathan, this is not such a nice surprise.

I followed your instructions on "updating" the one script with the XTM-capable version. I installed XTM0.7 on a fresh X3 install. In different dir as the old one, that is. But I installed the update on X3 installs before running the converter.

TTL, I mentioned this in the previous page. It's best if you move your pilots, or change your ships, to the vanilla ones. Added ships take up slots that are not necessarily going to be the same in the next mod. You can always move your pilots into the new mod ships once you've converted.

Also, you'll have to reconnect your stations.

HI!

Great Job!

My questions:
1. This Script restore the HQ blueprints?
2. The complex, factory position and rotation will same than before?

thanks

@russbo: I don't have issues with pilots, as I only use UTs and CAGs on vanilla TSs. Certainly mod ships aren't expected to how up correctly in general, but there seems to be a version that is supposed to work for XTM0.6->XTM0.7. Symtec was asking how it went for people. I can't believe I'm the only one who tried :o

Althought, maybe the Leviathan gets messed up anyways, since it is connected to a mission, and you can only have one. And to this end there is global script running all the time called checkArgonM0status, or some such. And the state of the script doesn't get copied.

I can live with my losses, and work my way back up relatively quick, since my trading empire is largely intact. :D While the lost ships were worth some half a billion, there were not that many of them (cap ships almost all), so scripting in money to re-buy them is an option. But for people who used large fleets of XTM0.6 specific ships in fighter squads or trading ships, might have a bit of a mess in their hands to replace them.

Still I am hoping to get the XTM version to work.

EDIT: After a re-check, this might have been my mistake in using the script after all   . I'm not sure if the XTM version of the subtype converter was in the right place after all. Will re-try. This time around, I will remove my sat grid first, though. It's 4/5th of my objects. Sorry for jumping the gun.

No, still the XTM ships are messed up. This time the XTM subtype converter was definedly in place. :(

Had an interesting problem when converting Vanilla -> XTM 0.7. Ran the script in my vanilla game (though after installing XTM 0.7, mod and scripts... is the problem there?), renaming and moving the log file, and running the script on the other end in my new XTM 0.7 game. My credits, race rep, and explored sectors transferred okay, but my ships (I only own 7, but they're important to me  ) did not transfer at all. Neither did my combat and trade ranks.

Should I remove XTM and run the script on my vanilla game (I didn't save over with XTM installed, no worries), THEN install XTM, make a new XTM game and try again?

EDIT

forgot to say, great work Symtec. Might yet get to keep being a pirate... :pirat:

Okay... tried my own advice above, and I still get the same thing. Converting from Vanilla -> XTM 0.7, I get my credits, race rep, and explored sectors fine, but nothing else transfers. :(

I am not "the expert", haven't installed the Converter yet, but as I have read in the german section your ships should be in space, and not docking.

Could you send me the logfile to my email-address? I can see whether it was a compression or a decompression problem.

Will do tonight when I'm on my home machine. Thanks much for your help Sym. :D

Oh yeah, and I was in space for both compression and decompression. Just to clarify.

erm, Sym, I'd send you the logfile but your email address is not listed...

EDIT

I copy-pasted it here, is that close enough?

Added a few spaces ;)

Seems like something went wrong with your compression - the ships are not listed there. Try reading the readme, then do the compression again.

btw: My email is to be found in the readme. ;)
