Just started pre-loading X Rebirth

The only funny thing is that the game apparently has 4.4 GB

Preload completed. Took all of 7 minutes so either reached max bandwith all the time or its not even close to 10 GB. Can't seem to find it on disk to check the size though...

Preorder information: Game will be dispatched end of November 2013*

*Temporarily out of stock. Another batch is being produced exclusively for us, however that means we may not be able to dispatch orders placed after November 6th until the end of the month. If you ordered on or before that date you will get a box from the first batch however.

Grrrr hate my schoold for forcing me pay my bill last month should they have let me pay it this month i would not be in this.....now should i get digital copy or wait ............ well will order CE when i get my money on 11th.

I'm quite new to steam, and can't seem to find where/how to start the pre-load. Can someone help me?

Go to your library, select Rebirth's entry, and there should be a "preload" button where you would see "Play" for other games.

It seems that I miss some steps before this, becouse in the steam app I have no games in my library.

I just bought the game yesterday, got the confirmation e-mail with the receipt number, what I unerstand functions like a customer ID, for reporting troubles, asking for help from the customer service.

For adding a game to the library, I should activate the game on the steam by the steam key, what I have not yet recived?
Can this be becouse I bought the game on the weekend? I got all the automatic answers and confirmations, but the steam key delivery requires some supervising from Egosoft employees, therefore I will get it on monday or within few days?

Games you bought on Steam area automatically added to your library with the code - you don't need to add the game separately* (only if you bought a Steam game from a 3rd party distributor, like GMG do you have to manually activate it). It doesn't matter when you bought it, it's there instantly.

So:
- You bought the game via the downloaded Steam program, not through steampowered.com OR a third party retailer like GMG....
- while you were logged in with your account
- bought it for yourself, and didn't accidentally click on "buy as a gift" option
- and didn't change your account since yesterday.

Am I right? If so, it should be in your library. To double check it, search up Rebirths store page - it should say there that you already own the game.

Another option is:
When you hover over the "Library" tab, you can choose which games you wish to see: All, Installed, Recent, Favourites etc., Click on "All Games".

Also, from Steam FAQ:

You may have to log out of your Steam account and log back in to Steam through the Steam client in order for the game to appear in the Library list**

Other than that, I can only think of stupid questions (with respect), like "Is your PC plugged in?". (Sorry, couldn't resist ^^ )

*at least I never had to, and I've bought quite a few games this way.

GMG are not distributing the Steam key until release time as far as I know. Might be the same for other retailers.

About the connections and such things, yes everything is working

"All Games" option is selected (have zero of them) and I also did relog in the app, however I didn't buy the game trough steam app. I have only installed it after buying the game.
On the egosoft page, I followed the "Pre-Order" promotions and links to the egosoft shop and bought the game there. So in this case does that count as a 3rd party publisher? Even if they are the game developers.

"Third party" in this context means "not Steam"

If you've received your key (by email I'm guessing) you can enter it into Steam and start preloading. If not, then you'll have to wait for the keys to be sent out.

Now that's a good question

I only have 2 guesses:
1.) log into your steam account on the website (not the app), and look there in the library - if the game is there, you should be able to get the retail number. ctrl+c
In the steam app, bottom left corner, click "+Add games", then "Activate a product on Steam" - you'll know the rest.

2.) contact Steam or Egosoft

My profile on the steam web page contains no game as well.

What i piced together so far is this:
-I got the game (have the confirmation mails from EGO + customer ID number, what I mentioned above).
-Created an account on Steam and installed the app, all working.
-With those above I'm ready to go, just have to wait till the steam key is released.
-If lucky i get it soon, if not then at nov. 15th, resulting in me being part of a big virtual line, waiting to download the game, due to the overwhelmed bandwidthes.

I was just worried a little that I have made some mistake during the buying, but now it seems unlikely.
Worst case, I start mailing with the customerservice at nov. 15th if I still got nothing

I'll say one good thing about Steam: bandwidth is rarely an issue these days. I don't remember the last time I downloaded anything from them at less than a few megabytes per second. So preloading is better of course but even if you have to start on the 15th, an hour or two is probably the most you'll have to wait (depending on your own bandwidth
