I'm pretty certain they did, it was posted in this forum somewhere I read it myself.Fallent wrote:When this game isn't announced until Gamescon or beyond, do us naysayers win a cookie?
The important thing to remember is... Egosoft never actually "promised" us the release date at the beginning of August. They merely said it, never promised or guaranteed it. It's our own faults for misinterpreting their words, getting our hopes up and blah blah so on... Rinse and repeat until 2014

Cool story, bro!Vayde wrote:Just a few observations to share with you all here:

No, you don't understand.
It's very likely that they will announce a release date for the game at Gamescom.
They have promised that in the beginning of August they will announce when the game release date will be announced.
People are waiting for them to say "Game Release Date will be announced at Gamescom."
People are waiting for the release of the release date announcement.
And they're not saying it.
It's silly.

That's what we wore told by Bernd anyway
Time will tell if EGO can keep their word or not.... Or this is going to turn out just like original XR release date
Anyway I don't care anymore if game is gong to be out this year or next
That's what we wore told by Bernd anyway

Well about XR original date we all know they are full of %#%# (thank you for proving my point) ...... But I was talking about this "The release date of the release date "... August 6 and still noting not any news at all.....ajax34i wrote:Time has already told, like, repeatedly, for two years, I believe.

Honestly I doubt any journalists with any sort of clout will care about Egosoft at this point. This game was hyped at Gamescom 2 years ago this month. This game was MIA at E3, the promises, trailers, making of's and everything are a little too late.dougeye wrote:it makes sense to announce the release inline with the games con line ups, game reporters and journalists will pick up on it and check it out at games con walst fresh in the mind and will hopefully start the publicity ball rolling if they like what they see at games con, I would then expect the release date to be no later than the first half of October!
Boat sailed my friend. Egosoft wasn't on it

yeah the lack of any hype or communication about this game whatsoever is definitely going to hurt sales.
X is a niche game however. Most people who want to play it, already know about it, but I suspect that player pool may be slowly declining. Steam will help with new players, but as it is this game will have to compete with all the other games shouting for attention on steam. Most people don't know this game or what it is, and with a name like X, I doubt many people will give it the time of day it needs to prove itself.
Pre-sale hype and progress reports over the past year would have definitely changed that.

some of the best games ive ever played have not been "hyped", just saying, and Egosoft have never as far as im aware been a presence at E3, E3 is there for console companies to sell stuff, hyping up their products with new shiny games to show off, that's about it! And when I said Journalists im talking game mag / site journalists, all it takes is a Sci Fi fan, even from a site like IGN to post up an article and you then have x amount more people that have heard the name X Rebirth (that's if EA let them)
and there are many many more sites across the world IGN is just an example before the vultures try and pick apart my answer with statistics about how many words IGN have ever written about space games and that they won't care about this crappy space sim because the awesome star citizen is so much better! lol

I used to list PC parts here, but "the best" will suffice!

As a vulture, I'd like to provide you with some relevant statistics:dougeye wrote:some of the best games ive ever played have not been "hyped", just saying, and Egosoft have never as far as im aware been a presence at E3, E3 is there for console companies to sell stuff, hyping up their products with new shiny games to show off, that's about it! imho i think it’s never too late to get a game going, steam is going help allot indeed
every day there are more the 4million peeps online that checkout the new lineup and with rebirth being easier to start with (then x3) i think that has a lot of potential for egosoft.
stop jabbering about missing boats and talking about other games snapping rebirths potential its just crap and you know it,
we all will buy the game otherwise we wouldn’t be here on the forum each day to check for new info and waiting
You can always start a campaign after you release your game, why not?
Why in the hell would someone (who loves space sims) not buy a space sim game because the marketing campaign before release was lacking?!
That’s just crazy!
