Hi, love the mod. Been using v2.08 and looking forward to v3.00.

My own thoughts on the M7, leave them as they are. With the extra race M7's that your mod adds it balances out nicely for me.

Good luck with the rest of the mod :D

Roguey, have you considered creating Alpha, Beta and Gamma Versions of the Photon Beam Cannon? The current Photon Beam Cannon might be classed as a Gamma, while also having Alpha and Beta Versions for M1's, maybe even TL's?

I was also wondering if you could make the flak turrets work a bit more like the original X3 versions? It takes an M1 or M2 forever to take out attacking M3's and M4's with the current flak cannons. Or perhaps have both the standard X3 version and your mod's version available for sale?

well the trouble with alpha, beta, gamma versions of the beam canon is the amount of weapon slots X3 has. I cant actually fit any more in (i had to replace one weapon to get the beam cannon in to start with).

Well im already look at improving the flak cannon :)

i was wondering if there was a way to take out the performance enhancements, ive never seen my computer slow down playing this game, and i wanted to know if there was a way to take them out

not really and not sure why you would want your game to run slower. I could make your X3 grind to a halt (if I wanted to) but I dont see the point of 'wasting' frames. Some things were just slowing X3.

On my pc some of the speed up makes a big difference. There are bound to be people with slower pc's wanting to play the mod as well. I would of thought everyone would want their X3s to run smoother not slower!

All im saying with my speed-up's is that ive 'optimize' X3 more than reduced graphics. X3 does actually look better (with all the graphic tweaks).

oh ok, so far i havent really seen any of the things i thought it took out, like the part that said small asteroids i thougtht that meant you took out all the asteroids but the ones that you could mine :oops:

i had another question tho, im using your mod, and i have finally gotten a ST trader, and he is not working, he gets to level 4 and just sits in argon prime (for 4 hours sofar setad) and does nothing but check prices and move from station to station i was wondering if you knew something i could do, i dont think its part of your mod, but i figured since im using it i might as well post this here

ah, no worries. Mini-asteroids was about the only thing 'removed'. I removed them because they dropped my fps a lot. Most sectors without them I run at 30-60fps, but somewhere like Seizewell (has loads of mini's) I got around 15-17fps (I really didnt like this - 15/17fps is too low!). Now Seizewell runs at around35fps (about double) just because them mini's were removed. To be honest they really didn't add that much - a new planet is way more interesting than a small rock!

Some other things have been adjusted too. One being the civilian ship numbers - they often get in the way anyway and over-load station docking slots. Civilian ships did even 'jam' up sectors. It was simply not wanted! I simply lowered them (not removed). X3 now has like 500 less ships to deal with.

The mod will bound to add some overheads to X3. This is down to all the new the new features like new BBS missions, more 'jobs', AL scripts etc. However taking all this into account, im sure that the mod should still run smoother than a vanilla version of X3.

I did not touch anything to do with ST traders. ST traders who do 'nothing' often cant find anything to buy. Try moving the ST trader to another sector and try again. When they get to level 8 things come much easier, as you can switch them to universe traders.

The current process with v3.00, is that im more/less ready for the mod's extra xml to be translated into other languages.

Its currently all in English (well.. I try to keep it like that). Im not an expert with these different language xml's. Im guessing if my English one is called '440003.xml' then this is correct for other languages?

490003.xml - ENG to GER
340003.xml - ENG to SPA
390003.xml - ENG to ITA[
483577.xml - ENG to POL
333577.xml - ENG to FRA

my '440003.xml' weighs in at around 114kb (so there is a lot in it). I could do with any of the above translations. Anyone willing to help translate it, let me know PM, email, here, my forum (nearly wrote BBS lol).

the missions that you added were you haul cargo/artifacts to another sector, can you fly one of your ships to the destenation unmaned and complete the mission?

the ones from the BBC (?) that you haul cargo for.


i thought this mission was kinda suprising, me in my nova mk 2 with lasers stripped from my explorer ship hoping to find a nice kill mission

sounds like ur be there awhile with your nova - it probably could kill that TL but its gonna take some time :)

by the sound of it, the assassinate and the transport goods missions, aren't my ones but egosoft's.

So let me get this right, did you only leave the large asteroids visible on the sector map and remove ALL the other smaller asteroids? If so, could you have an option to retain those? I'm making extensive use of the new mobile mining commands from Bonus Pack 3.1.07 and would greatly miss that feature in your mod. On my new MacBook Pro running Windows XP Pro, I get no noticeable slowdowns when in sectors with massive amounts of rocks, such as Seizewell. Some of us with more powerful computers would really appreciate having those little rocks to collect and sell. :D

All small asteroids were removed but the big ones stayed.

Well this PC has a few years on it, but its still relatively fast (X2 3800+(o/c 2.4Ghz, 7800GTX o/c, 2Gb). So ill thought ill just recheck the situation, to see if anything has changed.

Coming out of Seizewell north gate with no small rocks I get around 40fps (not bad - the norm's 60fps most other sectors - sync limit). Just tried with small rocks enabled and now getting 30fps thought the north gate. Hmmm.. only 10fps in it now. Something changed either a driver issue or X3... I might even able to improve on that.

a bit of surprise, 15fps extra (double fps). Ok... Ill keep the small rocks in v3.00 :)

The translations, ive decided to upload my 44003.xml file, so if anyone wishes to translate, they can. Im guessing these numbers are correct:

490003.xml - German,
340003.xml - Spanish,
390003.xml - Italian,
483577.xml - Polish,
333577.xml - French,

I need them all :) If anyone wants to check the English version for any bad spellings/grammer that would be good too. Its just my English isn't the best ever! Here's the xml:

:o Can't you just make it an option weather or not hte small(est) rocks (wich ROCK!) are on (how'bout in the AL setting thing?)? As mine (aka. My computer) is not one of the best.
EDIT: If there is an option, I can (atleast try to) translate it into Finnish. Although I think that I'm the only Finnish person here.... :D

Not really, however I could add the files to a mini-mod which could be included into the mod. That way you could remove them by renaming a file and placing into your X3 folder.

Which number does finish use? ie. 44? 49?
