I don't want to dash your hope, but pre-ordering X Rebirth on various websites and online stores is possible, since it was revealed. So you can't really make conclusions about the state of the game based on the fact that you can preorder it.
well of coarse i know that, but i searched it on the site a week ago and it wasn't there as a listing, now that it is it fills my hopes that its going to be this year that it'll come out or even have a release date arise around the corner, saying that... it could be that the site thought 2013 is a release date , and you can't buy it yet, at least i wouldn't until egosoft says its finished or establishes a date.

By chance could we get some kind of screening of the spoiler stuff so we're not getting the crap?
I agree - this is a good idea. Moderators should screen every post before it gets put up because I made a bad joke.

Sorry Promethium, people here seem to be very high strung. You aren't even supposed to use the word fanboy without getting in trouble. There are other forums where you can more accurately discuss this game and your concerns for it.
Just remember, it's a race to the finish on which gets finished first, X-Online ( www.online-universe.net ) or Rebirth

I think you would find that most people consider being called a 'fanboy' as an insult. Hence, against forum rules. I very much doubt that any discussion about a game requires you to call people 'fanboys'.

I'd question the factual accuracy of referring to the X series as a space "simulator." X simulates space travel the same way Call of Duty simulates infantry combat.
I love the X series, but its strength isn't in simulation.
Admitting you have a problem is the first step in figuring out how to make it worse.
For the record, I don't classify extant X games as space simulators, trading simulators, or combat simulators. They are universe simulators.
X games don't restrict themselves to any one of those genres. They take each one and blend them together into a single, coherent environment that operates simultaneously on a multitude of levels at a massive scale.
Naturally, since the games contain elements of space travel, trading, and combat, each element is rather weak on an individual basis. But the way they developers have woven them together to create a unified experience is what really strikes me as a player and as a game developer (in-training).

Can we get a moderator to make an official 'X Series Praise' thread so people can stop doing it everywhere it doesn't belong?
Not really, it is just that in the absence of anything new to say about release date, there seems to be a general feeling that the void here must be filled by something (anything) else. Moderators will step in if it gets outrageous or contravenes forum rules in a naughty way.
Trying to be optimistic, but I just don't see this game getting released until November/December, or even late Q1 early Q2 2014.
It's great to have some more videos, but it's even admitted the game isn't actually anywhere near close to completion.
I knew it wasn't going to be a 2012 release, but I guess I was foolish enough to intrepret the "We can only beg our fans to please be patient for a little while longer. - Bernd" comment to mean early 2013 release.
