Add to it the wrath of an ungrateful community once the game is released.Henkie wrote:Well, trust me that beta testing sounds great but in the end it isn't. The beta testers get to play a half done game with alot of bugs and it is their duty to play the stuff thats done and report any imbalance and/or bugs.
When the game is done and is being sold the beta testers are usualy done with the game for some months and thus can't really enjoy the endresult.
Just wait for the game to be done, buy it, and play the game as it mend to be
"Why wasn't this bug found? How come no one spotted X, Y or Z?"
Alien - it's not fun; trust me.

Granted it is more like work. Having been an alpha and beta tester for other games... Which is probably one of the reasons I have not signed the NDA to be an L5 tester...Henkie wrote:Well, trust me that beta testing sounds great but in the end it isn't. Play as its meant to be? You mean bugged? lol. Sry but alot of the x games have been very bugged well forums usually say they are i never really noticed but i heard x3 came game stopping bugs when it was launched and yeah there was a day 1 patch iirc but what about those with no net?Henkie wrote:Well, trust me that beta testing sounds great but in the end it isn't. I second the destructible ship systems and ships with actual crew for repairs. And maybe randomly generated pilot names for fighters, too. But I don't think a ship should be able to keep shooting if its entire back half is gone; that's kinda silly. (And most ships seem to have the engineering section, with the main reactor, in the back half of the ship, so unless the ship has massive emergency power generators that wouldn't be possible.
And I would like to again renew my call for a DVD release; not everybody can use Steam, or wants to use Steam for that matter. Also, a well-written paper manual. The included documentation for X3 is PDF only, and it sucked anyway. X3 gets away with it because there are plenty of veteran players on the boards, but when X-R is released, even the vets will be noobs again.

A random sector generator. Granted I imagine there needs to be sectors with certain things for plot/gameplay purposes, but a randomly generated universe would just increase replayability thousand-fold for me.
That, and surely it takes less effort to create game assets and a generator, than to create game assets and every sector.

I hope they do what they did with X3:TC and make it so if you buy the DVD version you can also activate it on stream for free.StarSword wrote: And I would like to again renew my call for a DVD release; not everybody can use Steam, or wants to use Steam for that matter. I've done Beta-Testing. Believe me, it's SO MUCH FUN - if you get a kick out of trying the same thing 20 times over to try and pin down the EXACT sequence of actions needed to trigger a game-breaking bug; or you enjoy spending hours scripting new player ships and all the weapons each one can fire and then firing the damn things to make sure they can actually be fired; or you like "playing" a game that has only 1 in 10 missions in the plot finished and you have to play them one after the other, saving and reloading to make sure plot info stays saved, leaving plots half-way through to make sure the game picks up when you return to them...
...and then have to do a lot of that all over again because something has been changed...
Oddly enough, this time round I decided not to volunteer. I got excited and had the NDA printed out and signed and then thought - "no... I don't want to do this. I want to enjoy the game when it comes out, even if that means a few extra bugs I might have caught."
I might get back to bug-hunting once I've played the game for a while. But not now.

Aw, Xenon_Slayer is just being modest. I've got individual games each with 'dozens of hours', and I don't mean SETA, either. And dozens of games, too. Hundreds of hours sounds more reasonable, although still a bit of an underestimate.Ketraar wrote:Well dozens just means multiple of 12, given it might be 12 dozen of hours its quite good IMO
MFG

Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

Looks like an awsome game and cant wait to get my fingers on it. Im almost certain this will be a great addition to my collection of the best games ever made. And its also nice to have something like this to look forward to, and spend the coming autumn evenings (nights) with. Its remarkable good company and a good place to be, the X-Universe. And oh, thats true,I found your you tube channel as told (he he,you know who you are), but first vid was about deers or something and i was hoping to find tons of X-universe stuff.(Sigh). Well, haven't really checked your stuff for real yet, just subbed you, and gotta say im really pleased to find other hardcore X-universe fans there as well. Thank you for the link, and please send me links to other x related stuff if you got it, im always looking for good ideas to my noob modelling ships and stations, and material for story's around and within the x-universe. Thats it, thats all i wanted to say, so again, thanks and have a great evening.

Something that looks very promising in video clip.. on 0:56 sec lower left corner, you can barely see. Ships flying in even lower atmosphere or maybe couple 1000 feet above-ground. So its seems there is a free planet landings
Or maybe not.. I think that 4 years in development is not enough to create landings on every planet with good detail..

I use my CH hotas and pedals with X3 R and X3 TC and have no problems at all. I've mapped nearly every function to it.onchas wrote:HOTAS/Pedal and TrackIR support would be awesome for this title.
I've talked to lots of folks in the flight sim community who like the concept of this game but pass when they find out they can't use their gear.
There's even an X3 profile for download on the CH hangar.

TNBT at E3 2011? (part 2)
I couldn't add another post to the similarly named (locked?) thread I opened on 10/10/10 so here is an update...
As predicted by this...?
http://forum.egosoft.de/viewtopic.php?t=288660
I notice that Deep Silver have a booth (PMR514) at the E3 Expo (June 7-9, 2011), at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Could it be there will be a demo of X Rebirth shown as predicted by myself... or is it for other Deep Silver stuff?
Anyone know of any other likely venues for Egosoft/Deep Silver to show off X Rebirth before 2011 Q4?
