RE: Misson RMC-07
<Log Entry Begins>
The RMC ships sat still, oblivious of the swarm of pirated heading straight for their undefended ships. Entering comm range, Simon hailed them in an attempt to awaken them to the danger they were in, but the spacefuel drunk crewers seemed to think it was simply another form of party entertainment. Reluctantly giving up, he moved a few klicks away from the ships and watched the gravidar as things began to unfold.
It was all a matter of numbers, at their current relative speeds, the Pirate fighters would reach the RMC ships long before the chasing Dragons and Mambas could catch them, and the TII force of Perseuses and Baracudas, backed by the Centaur would only have time for a single strafing run before the Pirates blew past the slower ships.
When that happened, it would be down to the "Broadsword" and its escorting "Mace" Falcon fighter squad to hold the Pirates off the vunerable RMC ships
Simon: Its going to be a close thing, "Mace" squad to standby, weapons hot. All we can do is wait.
Seconds drew out into hours as he fixedly watched the gravidar display, seeing the ship icons slowly converging. It seemed ages until the green of the TII reinforcements drew close enough to the pirates to open fire, new missile contacts separating from the ships.
As the missiles closed on the Pirates, followed by the firing ships, Simon was shocked to see the missiles suddenly disapear around 2km from the Pirates.
Simon: "Broadsword" to "Battleaxe", what happend to your missiles? Surely the Pirates couldnt have shot them down so fast!
Cpt Slamer: Sir, looks like some of the ships have fitted PSG weapons.... The missiles didint stand a chance!
Simon: Damm it, those PSGs will wreak havoc on the RMC ships! The must have been waiting to break away from the dogfight to use them, DAMM IT!!!
Cpt Slamer: We are entering laser firing range, we'll try and take as many out as possible, but some are bound to get through, I expect losses in my group from the PSG weapons.
Simon: That cant be helped, do all you can and God speed.

Yeah, I know that. What's happening in the mission, ship-location-wise? <excuse my lack of attention, I'm tired, and haven't got time to re-read it all>simonnance wrote:RMC-07, battle in Light of Heart.

Ref. Mission RMC-07:
The final shots of the capital ship battle traced a blue line from the multiple turrets of the Ray to the Colossus. The remains of the Titan were limited to a few bits of scrap metal.
'I always did like explosions,' remarked a techie. There were always loads of random techies aboard the DualStar ships, all sorts of modifications and repairs, mainly competitions as to who could squeeze another amp out of the power generator, or who could make the ship go 1/10 m/s faster. They did have their uses, occasionally, stuff like ultra-high-explosive Hornets, ion disruptor missiles (capable of frying the sheilds of two M2s at once. Downside: the things 'cost as much as five Novas' (quote Red Duke tactical officer).), and the like.
'Any survivors?' asked San.
'Scanning... scanning... yes! Two, in space suits, the crew of one of the Colossus gun turrets, the entire turret came off in one piece. I'll send a Pegasus off to get them.'
'How goes the rest of the battle?'
'There's a few oris making a dash for the RMC ships, Simon's in pursuit. That's all.'
'Any chance of reaching them?'
'In a Pegasus, or in the Split Dragon you were playing with in the simulator yesterday. Yes, the 1500 m/s one.'
Ref. Mission 'Insurrection':
The Black Op had been searching the ship systems for a long time before he got results. Sitting in the cargo bay, was a cloaking generator. He remembered all the rumors about them, of course, but had still been sceptical. He carried on working. After about half an hour, he found the way to turn it on. The little switch next to the helm seat labeled 'Cloaking Device'. It was in Split, of course, but he could read a bit of that. He wondered about the power drain. He clicked the switch. A computer voice told him that weapons would be lost, speed turned down to 10%, and shields to 10%. The jumpdrive would still function if there were twice the usual number of energy cells. It started a twenty-second countdown.
The Black Op checked to see if he could jumpdrive to President's End. Fortuanately, there was enough energy.
The Split lead ship opened fire, although hesitantly. Only a few shots struck. It then stopped again. Obviously trying to scare him. As the cloak activated, he hit the jumpdrive and boost extension at the same time. The tiny distance he moved protected him from the barrage of shots from the lead M2, as most went behind.
After a few tense moments, the drive activated. Shortly afterwards, he arrived in President's End.
There were ships and troops waiting. They easily took out the Split landing party, and then the Black Op slowly deactivated the lockdown as the DualStar men moved through.
Eventually the ship was clear, with all high ranking officers taken captive.
'Base,' the Black Op said into his radio. 'Mission complete. Suggest that you increase security in case of Split retaliation.'
Mission 'Insurrection' complete!

<Log Entry Begins>
As the slower TII ships entered laser range, the faster TII and DS ships still chased the souped-up Orinocos from the rear, and in front, the single Osprey class corvette and supporting fighter squad waited as the last line of defence for the RMC ships. Captian Slammer's force, having only the single chance to even the odds, opened fire.
As verdant green bolts crossed the dark void, the pirates returned fire with their powerful BPSGs, doing haevy sheild damage and forcing the TII ships to break appart to give less of a easy target, but reducing their own ability to concentrate fire on the enemy ships.
With the closing speeds at near 600m/s, the strafing run was brief, and soon the pirates had burst bast the intercepting ships, leaving the carcasses of 4 Orinocos behind them, joined be a single Baracuda.
Simon: Slammer, report!
Cpt Slammer: Sir we have taken out 4 of their ships, moderate dammage to 2 others with 5 remaining relatively undamaged. I lost one of "Trident" squad, and all the rest of us have sustained major sheild damage, and some damage to systems.
Simon: Damm those PSGs, Slamer, get your flight group home, you dont stand a chance of catching them now. "Mace" squad get ready, when they reach 5km, we boost and engage, for the initial run have 2 of them packing Ion Disruptors, we need to slow them down before we can kill them!
At their incredible speed, the Orinocos soon were drawing near the last TII defenders, the last hope of the RMC ships. Boosting to full power to engage, the slow Teladi ships moved to block their path to the larger capital ships. Missiles crossed the void between the closing forces, but the pirates PSGs and the TII IDs rendered the otherwise potent weapons useless.
Now closing to laser range, the PSG fire of the pirates battered the strong sheilded Teladi ships as ID fire and HEPT bolts ate away at the pirate formation, a Orinoco collided at full speed with the "Broadsword", exploding into tiny peices.
When the two groups finaly pased each other, there was but a solitary Orinoco left heading in on the RMC ships, far faster than any of the slow Teladi ships could fly.
Simon: Crap! That Orinoco could do untold damage with its PSGs, and there is nothing we can do!
He slamed his fist into a pannel
The flickering lights of the pannel, damaged by the impact, flicked radomly as the shocked circuitry lost control, showing random ship data,
Cradeling his bruised fist, Simon's eyes were caught by the flickering of the screen, the data on the ship that was impotent to do anything about the Pirat closing on the RMC ships, cargo manifest, weapons bay, docked ships...
Simon: THATS IT!! Load the docked Pegasus with as many Silkworm missiles as will fit, strip of the sheild and weapons if you have to! We can still get that ship in time!
In what seemed like seconds, Simon was in the tiny fighter, nestled beneath the Corvette, punching the clamp release and boost simultaneously, he rocketed foward inched beneath the Osprey he had launched from, heading at stupendous speed for the Orinoco
With but seconds till he was ontop of the heavy fighter, Simon prepared the missiles in his cargo bay to detonate. 1km behind the oblivious fighter and lined up perfectly, he ejected to space, trusting the sheer inertia of the tiny ship to carry it on to colision.
At a speed of 600m/s, the tiny ship colided with the larger fighter, a closing speed of near 300m/s, despite the damage to the its sheilds, the Pirate ship's huge sheild generators withstood the kinetic impact of the ship a mere 1/20th its mass, what they could not stand however was the detonation of the 10 Silkworm missiles inside its tiny cargo hold. The huge explosion enveloped the ship, heating the hull so hot that it didint just melt it vaporised, leaving but a cloud of cooling vapor where once was a ship and pilot.
Simon: Mission complete! But will someone PLEASE pick me up? I dont want to walk home you know!

I now present the 'TII Tardis-Pegasus' with a cargo hold twenty times the size of the ship! (the only way to fit ten Hornets into a Pegasus, as they are a) two cargo sizes to large and b) a lot of cargo units each. (had to point that out)

One word before I begin, sorry to all that I haven't done anything for AGES! I am writing this at 11pm and I'm tired so sorry if it's crap. I went off the game but now I'm back on it again!
For those of you who were wondering what happened (not many I think) here it is:
<Begin Transmission>
From: Hallow Hans
To: AMG Headquarters
Message: The Khaak ship sent a beam of kyon into the ship's hull. The ship lurched and alarms went off. All around, guards were running to battle stations. Never before had a Khaak attack like this been encountered and everyone was at a loss to why they had mounted such a big assault. Suddely, the ships security sytems kicked in and the doors automatically shut. The ship was being boarded. Hallow's stomach lurched. If he couldn't get out, he would surely die.
CRASH!
Suddenly, a girder fell through the door, completely obliterating it. Beneath it was the grisly remains of a Boron guard with numerous holes burned through him. Hallow ran.
After two minutes, he was knackered. He stopped, filling his air with the sweet air. It was getting harder to breathe. The Khaak must have hit the oxygen generators. Hallow had to get out of there, fast. He heaved his body into a room and looked around. There! On the table was a space suit. On the chair was a dead body, a human. He must have been and Argon ambassador. No time to think of that now. He grabbed the space suit and, there! Underneath it was some blueprints. Well, he came here to get some blueprints, and some were better than none. He grabbed them and put the spacesuit on. That was better, he could breathe.
He ran on and came across a sign. 'Docking bay,' it read. Excellent.
He ran on and eventually came to door, just wide enough to squeeze through. He started to get through when suddenly...
ZAP!. Whithe pain shot up his arm. He looked down and saw a hole had been burnt through. Kyon emitters! He looked down the hallway but saw nothing. He continued to squeeze through and made it just before a beam burned into the wall where he had just been. He saw his Nova and ran towards it. He opened the hatch and dived in. He was safe... for now.
Suddenly a warning came up and his shield went down momentarily. He looked up at the docking platform and saw shodowy figures firing at him, although he couldn't make out the shape of them. He engaged disembarking proceedure and blasted open the docking doors. No time for niceties. He engaged engines and blasted through.
A scene of destruction met him. Numerous Boron and Khaak ship bits floated around and they were still engagingand few kilometres. Hallow knew he wouldn't survive and so engaged the jump drive, selected Argon Prime, and jumped.
On the way he studied the blue prints. It was exactly as the AMG wanted! He opened up the comm link.
Hallow: Hanna, reurn to base. Mission Accomplished.
Hanna: Sir, you're out. But how...
Hallow: It's a long story captain. I'll tell you later. Right now, I have some documents to deliver. Hallow out.
He leaned back in his seat. He didn't feel like putting SETA on. He wanted to enjoy freedom as much as possible.
