What I find hilarious is the randomly capitalized H in "would be a Huge success".
As for the demo, I would think that Egosoft would release some form of a demo. Although I think it would be a rolling demo (i.e. it's like a video, but using the game engine to power it, so you can't control anything) for benchmarking purposes most of all.
You like the gameplay? Have you seen any of the gameplay? All we know gameplay-wise is we sit in one ship and fly other drones and ships remotely. This can go good or bad; nothing definite.

I assumed the poster meant that they rate a game (any game, not just Rebirth) based on its gameplay as opposed to its other aspectsamtie wrote:You like the gameplay? If that's what you meant by ratings.
As for game reviews I've never really trusted them. The score of the game depends on if and how much money the reviewer gets.
Still a tech demo showcasing X-Rebirth and the Engine (not a playable demo) would be great. Maybe even with the feature to test/benchmark the PC that's running it (assuming this wouldn't take a whole lot of resources or time from the actual game of course)!

i still think that they focus too much on drones stuff to get out of the ship

You really should read this.
I was going to take a break but I had to post this on the X:R forum because it might clear some things up. This video was posted on August 19, 2011. Do the images look familiar to you? They should because they were the screen shots that we have been getting for the past two months. That would explain the graphics that we kept commenting on (and some other things also). So if that was the game then, I have to ask where is the game now?

We've known about this for a while, we've also seen similar gameplay videos from the same gamescon event.
The games state to me, seems to have changed, they released AP very fast, with no warning or update that it was even coming, i think given the community response they needed more time to ensure as many people as possible could enjoy the game. Also some of the feedback from egosoft regarding our expectations and them stopping to provide us with weekly screenshots only increased the probability.
I think they're changing things around, from storyline or even core mechanics. Because of the response the game as so far gotten. but that's my 2 cents.

Screenshot of the week is lagging...
Ok... So we haven't had a screenshot of the week since, oh I dunno, may 16th, that's the last posting I've seen on facebook too. Does anyone else find this disturbing?
They said they were going to release a shot every week. It's killing me! Anyone else?

For the Angel of Death spread his wings on the blast, And breathed in the face of the foe as he passed, And the eyes of the sleepers waxed deadly and chill, And their hearts but once heaved, and for ever grew still!

So they're just finishing off a lot more of the game and then plan to provide more screenshots, when this is... we don't know. Hopefully Gamescon this year.Iifrit Tambuur-san wrote:This week there are four pictures. The first picture shows a mining drone. The second picture shows the shield drone. Both drones are still known by the GamesCom. And so the Torpedo Drone doesn't feel so alone among the other screenshots, these two images were uploaded, too. The third will be once every 3 drones merged and the activation sequence of the Torpedo Drone is shown in more detail.
Now to actually screen shot of the week. I myself can say little except that it really is a new screenshot which hasn't been seen yet. Have fun with it.

I'm really to sad and I'm sorry about it to announce this. But this week it was the last new screenshot so far and for the next weeks you will have to forgo upon new pictures. I'm aware about the expectations that have been made here in the last months towards this thread and the new picture for the following week. But it was me that decided to make a cut here and give Egosoft the opportunity to make new screenshots in a better quality to show the actual development progress of X Rebirth.

Time for new information?
Nothing new at X rebirth ? No screens and/or videos. Just hope that`s because developers (or more accurate QA) are testing hardly and too busy to respond.

i saw an interesting key note speech by todd howard (Bethesda) not so long ago and he talked about how they approach the production cycle and how rather than leaving all the play testing to the end they get the game playable realy early on and then have a massive timeframe for tweaking, testing and adding cool new editions to the established game. I think this is a similar approach to Ego and Rebirth, they had the game playable last year when they announced it but are now adding adding adding and hopefully adding the final bit of polish ready for release, id rather they were doing that than posting screens up!
A small dev like Ego probably need every hand on deck right now.

I used to list PC parts here, but "the best" will suffice!

Yeah either they are taking an approach similar to bethesda like dougeye said. It seemed to be playable at the gamescon 2011 so this might be a feasible explanation.
Unless they changed one or more of the core mechanics for X:R which could explain why it's release date was pushed from Q4-2011 to Q#2012 (or whenever).
GoD, which one do I side with
