Seconded that. I noticed that Commonweath space really lack gas giant planets (both Jupiter/Saturn and Neptune/Uranus type), there are mainly a diffrent types of rock planets or nebulas. It makes Solar system unique, but in other hand current obserwation proove that Gas giants (and I mean GIANTS - multiple size of Jupiter) are quite common in our Galaxy.1. Montalar - Do you have any red, gas giants for it?

Gas giant finished¡¡
Fixed. The vanilla ones have a bad alpha channelling
- Added a gas giant in Montalar. The alpha channelling of vanilla gas giants has been fixed
- New Mercury planet

Im also share the idea that we need more gas giants. Any idea about good sectors to include this beast will be welcome.

As someone mentioned - Ringo moon should have a Gas giant.Im also share the idea that we need more gas giants. Any idea about good sectors to include this beast will be welcome.
I also think that Three Planets sector should have Gas Giant too and 3 planets as it's moons, coz it's not realistic to have triple planetary body.
Priest Rings - Gas giant with Giant Rings, plus maybe a habitable moon.
Rhonkar's Clouds - either nebula foggy sector or Gas giant with nice clouds
Split Fire - no solid reason, but I alway imagine that pirate sector to be nice with Gas Giant.

- Added a Gas Giant 'St. Peppers' on Ringo Moon*
- Decreased 75% brightness on Uranus texture
- Patriarch Keep changed to a black background. Transitional sector
*Following the bit of info from Enenra.
Seeing the info from testers right now only left with a plethora of problems the terran sectors. I must take a decision about maintain the current nebula or go to a standard black one...hummmm......i dunno... can be immersive in some cases but a lot of boring in the whole concept.
For the moment only one tester vote: black background.

I'd add a gas giants to some Xenon and Unknown Sectors.
Such planet's are not good neighbours in popular systems due to strong tidal force and gravity pull. No one would like to be sucked in
Propositions: Unknown S, Faded Dreams, Dark Waters, Maelstrom, Unholy Descent, Unknown (next to X543), Perpetual Sin, Cloudbase (I read on wiki about hypothetical floating habitats in upper layers of Gas giants atmosphere - floating cities http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_colo ... Gas_giants) Each race should have at least one giant in their frontiers.
How such giants should look like? Just like the Uranus or Neptune with different hue and luminance + Atmosphere aura. I really like their plain look that makes you think - hmm wonder what's underneath this uniform shroud.
@ connary
will be added within the next version ?
I'll be doing some more explorations and testing tonight

Sorry if i hasn't been clear, i cant upload every time i make a fix. It takes 30 minutes only to upload 100Mb, urghs¡¡¡
We are in a testing phase, when i consider that the mod has advanced to a new level i will upload a RC1.1
If you don't see a new number in the version then i don't uploaded anything.

Concerning the Terran sectors, not too bothered either way, but if I was pushed for a decision I'd go with the nebula (which I think could need a higher resolution, parts of Jupiter, Saturn and Asteroid belt skybox look a bit blocky).
Not realistic I know, but I take a fantasy>reality approach for space sims since Frontier Elite 2 with its Newtonian Physics.

i vote for the black background in the sol system. Perhaps i think that for some gas giants like uranus and jupiter it would be more immersive a blak background but with an eruction of gas near the planet like this http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/3369/20cb5.jpg
also i think a continuum of the asteroid belt in his sector background like a semi-cyrcle would be great
ps. sorry for the size but i don t know how to resize it

ok i won't do that in the future
@ connary
I ve found on you tube an awesome idea!
a decadent sun!
look at this video you can put these suns near the gates in pirate, xenon or unknown sectors!with this brightness or less it would be totally awesome!!!

I' 100% sure you will not deny my offer

Im only changing textures on top of the game assets, nothing more. Also im using a game utility to change the disposition of objects to give some coherence to the initial idea.
Im reaching the limit of my modding time for this project. I think its a nice step in a good direction, perhaps another modder can take the works from this point to add more content but in fact i don't think this game needs a lot more in this department. There are other people giving us the real fun in form of scripts XD.

Last time I used your mod Connery... one thing came to mind right away... I always... always had the feeling while playing the game like I was constantly falling... lol you know that feeling right when your laying down in bed just about to fall into sleep and you feel your body get that falling sensation. Having this mod installed caused that sensation... it was freaky and awesome at the same time. It's funny how sometimes visuals can affect people like that

Sol System, opinion:
Black background in every sector connected via an accelerator.
Reasoning:
Every sector is in the same solar system.
Premise of you amazing modification is to create an immersive environment based on the sector descriptions.
Immersive is what you want to accomplish; it will not be boring if it is immersive.
In Sol, concentrate on the primary planets and possibly something unique and located in the Belts and the 5 Oort clouds ("unknown" sectors).
Such as comets, meteor showers (visuals only), or a large derelict station(textured over a large asteroid).
Definitely stay away from galactic phenomenons in Sol.
They detract from the immersiveness of Sol.
Sol is simply elegant and beautiful.

Wow, I suppose this is a good thing, you are feeling the sense of deep spaceRequiemfang wrote:Last time I used your mod Connery... one thing came to mind right away... Ok, taking a new direction with solar system, definitely need to be disconnected from the rest of X space. Taking in consideration how a few of the solar systems are pre designed the best way will be a black background.
The feeling of dark space goes well with terrans, no?

Im working in some changes to get the sensation that we are approaching the sun. WIP, I dont know if i will include this changes, opinions needed.
