Another main reason why I chose to do this was I could copy and paste the quotes from IMDB. I was browsing there looking at AD when I noticed they'd make perfect fluffer text, with little effort from myself.

If you or someone else wanted to you could do the exact same thing for a different show. Red Dwarf is out, there are only 4 quotes there. Farscape had 8...

Was hoping to just have the chit-chat without the missions LOL.

OK AalaarDB I have turned on the missions to YES and then saved the game and loged out and back into the game and still nothing...

I then turned the missions off for a few seconds and back on again, still nothing.

Where should I be looking for the new COMMS commands? If I hit ESC it brings up a menu at the bottom of the screan, does the new COMMS appear there? or when you hit the P is it in that row of menus?

I may try to reinstall it again, maybe just overwrite them all with a fresh install.

Thanks for your help I am happy to try anything to get it going but I don't know the 1st thing about scripts I only install them to their folders from the readmes or if its plain thats where they should go after that I am stuck LOL.

Stay safe!

1 second although I have the Nav command MK1 installed you say that you need a comm device?

Is there also a Communications device or do you mean that the Comm device is part of the Nav command MK1?

If you have put a seperate comm device into the game, where do I buy that from?

If not then I will just re install it all and try again.

I still don't know how to bring up that Fight, Navigation, Trade menu is. Do I need to be undocked to get to it and once undocked what keys do I press to get to this menu?

Sorry but I have converted to a true noob, seems nothing is going right the game takes like 10 minutes to load and save. I am thinking there must be a memory leak somewhere.

OK NM I have found the custom comms and its all working ok. Well infact its working too well once I found it and clicked on it I got message after message lol about 10 in a row I hope this is not what its like I would have to turn it off if I keep getting them like that I have now gone back to my TS and saves now are much sorter. I wounder if its the messages building up that is slowing me down?

I will look into this further.

You should not be getting them all at once. What were the ones you got all at once like?

Turn off the Missions plugin, and save. Exit the game, download and do a reinstall of the script. The zip file should be extracted to your main X3 directory and the rest will be sorted out. Turn it back on.

OK here is what I did, what happened and so what I done.

I downloaded your Comms Chatter Framework, Installed it to the T and Scripts folders in the directory checked it was there and that the chit-chat was on (YES) and left the Missions off (NO. I know now you need the Missions on (YES)). So went off in my Buster to buy the Nav Com MK1 got that installed. Had all those problems but while trying to sort that out found out there was a ship I could go claime behind a big rock so went off to get that. Once I got the ship I changed over into that as I got almost no cash after buying the nav com MK1 for the Buster.

After about 2 runs I noticed the game slowing right down saves would last like ages and I was getting really concerned. I docked back at the station I left my Buster and jumped in that and suddenly there was the Customs Comms I clicked on it and got as I said all those chit-chats one after another.

So I then turned it off, and turned off both the Chit-chat and the missions in the AL and went back to my new hauler.

For about 2 runs all was fine then it started running like a pig again and also the game now crashes with a little pop up on the desktop saying "file not found"

This could be to do with any number of reasons, I have CockpitCallback Mod running, THUNT, Shield-Shunt, CCM, BBSExtras, Overtune, JTP, HRA and maybe another. All I have taken from the Script Index on this site apart from the CockpitCallback. It could even be my machine its getting old now.

AMD Athlon 300+
1 GB RAM
Radeon 9600 (Hercules 3D Prophet 9600) 256MB

I will your your uninstaller to get rid of it and see if that makes a difference. If I do uninstall will I lose my saved games?

No Probs I am just starting out and happy I am having this problem now and not much later into the game.

If its none of the scripts and is my machine it may be a while till I sort that out. Got a lot of Xmas debt lol.

Since other people have reported slowdowns I will look into it - I seriously doubt it is from me.

You will not lose your saved games if you uninstall my script. I would suggest turning it off to make sure no scripts are running before removing the files.

There is no memory leak in the CCM framework.

There was a memory leak in the Salvage Mod, now fixed here: Salvage Mod

Just installed the ccm framework, started it up in the custom orders, and it sort of works, but the orders are jumbled letters/numbers.

Also when i begin to play, all of the messages come through as in pic. Ive heard some people say you dont need both of the options enabled (chatter + missions) but because of the jumbled text prob for the ordersi cant tell the diff anyways.

Any ideas?

Extract the zip file to your main X3 directory. After that, open up the folder X3\t. Check for file 447353.xml and 447354.xml. If you are using a different language, copy and rename those to your language number. 497353 for German, I think 397353 for Italian, etc.

thanks....just checked and have both 447353.xml and 447354.xml present, using english language. I have had a few problems with certain fields when things are being loaded. For instance when i query the details of a ship, for a second or two the fields read "readtext.lotsofnumbers" but correct after a few secs. This is very similar to what i am gettin both on the toggle script on/off plus the actual messages, bar the correcting after a few secs. Perhaps this is not a prob with the script, perhaps its my instalation? I have heard others with this problem.

If im honest the reason im installing CCM is to be able to use the salvage mod, although i do also like and will use (if i can get it to work) the ccm on its own. However is it possible to use the salvage mod with a working yet illegible ccm?

OK got rid of CCM all together but my saved games was still taking like 30 minutes to load or save it was stupid. I do not think it is CCM but maybe it could be some sort of mem leak from the CockpitCallback Mod.

I could not get rid of that so uninstalled the game completely and will reinstall soon play for a bit save my game and add Scripts to the game 1 at a time playing for a bit inbetween until I am happy that the game is OK and proforming well then adding another script and so on.

Did you get my saved game? it was about 88MB LOL and the thing is I only have about 11k in creds and 2 ships. thats it. At that rate with 30 stations and 300 ships my 600GB Hard drives would be full in one save lol.

Hansaw, if you use the Salvage Mod, please download the update and run it. Once updated, you can reinstall everything and all scripts.

Scripts.

Post by arnak »

Hi Hansaw,

If your savegames are that size then it is likely that you have some logging turned on, either in X3 or with regards to a script.

The normal savegame is 5-6meg.

I have disabled the popups and deleted the playrandomchatter.xml, and currently have just the missions plugin turned on. Ive sat in the middle of a number of sectors for 10mins at a time with seta@1000% and have not heard a peep? I Have also tried this with popups enabled too. Is this normal? I don't know how frequent comms missions are meant to be?

You need to have the salvage mod or the escort mission to have missions.

Sorry i should have said, this was with the salvage mod running too. I know it is probably me but i am having (as youve probably noticed) quite a bit of trouble getting this to work. Here is what i have done so far...

Installed the ccm and salvage mod to scripts folder. Re-named the two files to .cat/.dat 06 and put the 6 digit files in the t folder. Ive also tried installing the the mod files to the mod folder too. At various different times/configurations ive had derelict ships spawn but not been able to salvage them. Although thanks to a previous post i know that was my fault :). But now just using the ccm + salvage mod on their own the best i can get is arrested development pop-ups. I did at one point have offers of derelict info and hints of locations but not got them since the new install.....help!

If you could give me a quick step-by-step from a clean 1.3 patched install i would be very grateful cos i so want to get this working :)

Forget the manual copying. Unzip CCM, SM, and EMP all to your main X3 directory. They will go into their folders. The EMP can overwrite 06 only if the 06 is already EMP - otherwise follow directions on EMP thread.

Activate script editor, save, load. Go to AL settings page, turn SM and CCM on. If SM turns to off after turning on, the EMP is installed improperly.
