My ts's just approach the astroids and spin around then fly away again..over and over...
also.... no transfer occurs between following ships...all have transporters and ore ollectors and all other nessesary hardware/software.
I noticed that same problem in the ore belt. It seems that there are "ghost" asteroids there. That is that asteroids are spotted in the navigation map but if you fly to them they are not auctually there... I found one way to solve this right now is to set all your ships to do a mineral scan. ... dunno if it works yet tho, as I just started collecting last night after noticeing the problem.

I found a problem that would prevent the miner from finishing IF you restarted the automining command just after it had started it's final aproach to the asteroid. You'd end up with two timer's running and the first would not leave you enough time to complete the new aproach so restart the command, and a new timer
Ghost asteroids? some are along way off the ecliptic. try looking up.

I swear I am not making it up!
I have followed my miner to certain spots and watched him fly in circles around what "he" thinks is an asteroid, And I confirmed that an asteroid suppose to be there according to the nav map. But in fact there is auctually no asteroid there. Am I the only one that is experencing this?
It only happens when I set asteroid type to 0. Also when I set asteroid type to 1 2 or 3 it still only mines ORE. ? I think my miner is a retard.....

possibly, you're sitting there watching it on SETA?
The difference between being within range of the MDS to the asteroid and being too close to the asteroid is literally a matter of meters. Too close and the collision detection kicks in and the ship will fly away from the asteroid resulting in the looping you see. It's precission flying from something that wasn't really designed to be that accurate. The fact that it works at all is remarkable.
If you're using SETA in the same sector as a miner then your computer has less processing time to spend on each individual object, the result is the autopilots become less precise. That's not really good news for the autominers.
The good news is that they are programmed to deal with loops. It just takes a while. It can take several minutes to line themselves up, and if there's a problem it can take another minute or so to realise, then they have to start the manouvere again. It's a slow process.
Probably the best way to mine is to leave the sector while it's mining.
