I disagree that Ego should stay with what it knows best. If they never try out new things, or try to evolve, someone will eventually challenge and overtake them. X:R, which now is actually a good game in it's own right, was wildly unpopular when it launched. I didn't even like it... but years later I've played it a good bit, and I enjoy it for what it is. That's Ego pushing boundaries... and I think they should, even if they do stuff that is wildly unpopular at the time. I like the idea of Ventures, and I like the idea of some kind of limited multiplayer. Mostly I just want to play by myself, but I enjoyed having other players ships in my universe, even though they didn't do a whole lot. I'm looking forward to seeing it expanded... though I also don't want a 50/50 MMO weird hybrid thing.bof111 wrote: ↑Sun, 15. Aug 21, 15:34 Well i'm sorry but Ncc386 seems right to me. X was always a offline single player game and was the only one that fills this niche. This new ventures is a strategical nonsense, if people want to play an space MMO they have already alot to do so. Making an hybrid game of X will please noone at the end because the single player have no interest in online things and the others will get probably disappointed on the long run. I think it's better to stay at what Ego knows the best in game dev.

Re: Public Beta of 4.10 now available
IMO if someone really want venture, they would work much better as online analog for X3 Unfocussed jump drive.
While an online feature it would work as single player arena where players configure their arena fleets (e.g. Carrier battlegroup) to face against.
My current problem with X4 is that NPC fleets provide no challenge, but spam of venture ships all over galaxy wasn't fun at all.
Having player designed fleet to face in separate sector would solve the challenge problem, while keeping galaxy nice and clean.
Currently we have budgeted custom gamestart in 4.10 - the very same menu could be used to configure fleets within selected budget and selecting rewards for defeating that fleet.

of course nobody misses ventures, so far it was click and wait
why would anybody miss that?
skins and rare parts should have additional ways to get though ( normal and sane
), and Im very looking forward to see what ego has done about it

Fixed ships getting spawned away from ship configuration menu at resupply ships from automatically getting deployables.

Re: Public Beta of 4.10 now available
I don't say they shouldn't try new things. For Rebirth i think the reason why there where big problems was because it was firstly designed for the Xbox too and this console hybridization gave the catastrophic start of Rebirth. They got screwed at this time by MS or DS or whoever was in charge of the console part. And a few years later i agree they saved the project. But a multiplayer feature needs a lot of work and resources that will not give Ego any enough return on investment if they do not engage seriously in this path. I really fear they will get stucked in something similar and loose resources that could been spent better on offline features. IMO ventures is a waste of time that will only divide the community.grapedog wrote: ↑Mon, 16. Aug 21, 04:15I disagree that Ego should stay with what it knows best. And let be honest, if the manpower on ventures was spent on other single player new features it would probably be much more appreciated.
I'm dreaming but : Some weird hub acquired by a plot that can connect to new random generated systems with the possibility to lock this system on a definitive portal where of course those systems would have unique valuable things to explore and find in, wouldn't be better ? Well it's just an random idea but i think that with the X4 base you could do so much more and better without swimming in the online dark waters.

Re: Public Beta of 4.10 now available
Maybe I'm missing it, but is there some key combo that can center the map on where the player is? It's kind of cool now that the map doesn't always center on my character, but on where I had it last.... but sometimes it would be nice to be able to hit a key combo and have it move to where I am. Anyone know of a keybind for centering the map on the player? I wasn't able to find any in the controls.

It will be possible in the future to also have the option of being able to change the colors of a faction? ( ships )
It would be nice to give the factions a fresh look.

soooo, love the changes so far, especially that you can move the station parts vertically now..... but how the hell can i rotate them horizontally again now? can't seem to find any info on that... am i the only one to stupid to figure out how to change the axis?
edit: ok figured it out, its bound to your camera view... but that can't be all... if that is all it's not very intuitive to use if you have to change the camera view everytime you want to change the axis... there must be some kind of hotkey for it!?

Re: Public Beta of 4.10 now available
Ya know... i'm on my not main playthough, but I had sworn I had explored every sector on THIS playthrough... I'm currently in the process of exterminating the Terrans yet again... and a few hours ago i just saw that un-explored sector off Saturn... it felt weird... but I figured maybe I just missed it. I've yet to play a long TER playthrough other than getting the basic TER achievements because Terrans are seriously the worst rutting faction ever... so I'm not super familiar with Sol space as I usually just embargo it, cap it with defense stations, declare war, and then ignore it.
I'll have to go check out that new sector, and blow up whatever the shit-bird terrans have built. Another future Antigone annex...

Re: Public Beta of 4.10 now available
I wasn't sure where to put this but I figured this place would make sense more than anywhere else.
Would it be possible to make the 4.10 map memory feature optional rather than a universal feature? It is not a bad feature (at least when it works) but I just find myself not really using it functionally and it is more tedious and annoying than not. I find myself committing extra steps in how I interact with the map 9 times out of 10 because of this feature.
For example whenever I open the map I wish to be centered on and following the ship I am currently in (I understand that many people do not) and this functionality seems to remove that without resetting (R) upon opening the map every time. Also there was a handy menu semi-menu reset where if you escaped out of the map as opposed to closing it with other means the next time you opened it the contextual object list would be expanded. Now escaping out of the map leaves everything closed when you open it back up which means that I am constantly having to open the map, reset the view then click on the object list whereas before I could easily escape out and re-open the map and it would be how I wanted it. If I wanted to leave the property list open I could close out of the map using m or the upper right hand x and it would return me (at least in terms of the menus) back to where I was.
Again though I completely understand how the map memory feature would be great for some people, but for me it has just made things a bit more tedious and just seems like a feature that would be great as an optional thing rather than always on.

Me too.. it's so annoying. Please provide a toggle/game option for this functionality, so the map "memory" can be turned off/on. Thank you!Berhg wrote: ↑Fri, 27. Aug 21, 02:55I completely agree with TGS on this.TGS wrote: ↑Thu, 26. Aug 21, 05:52 ...

I think there's a hot key to jump to your current location, though it isn't on the Controls list in the options.
The comma and period keys seem to jump to where you are before zooming in/out.

There is. It's 'r'. It's also got a button on the top right hand corner next to the toggle wares filter. That'll reset your map to follow you wherever you are.
