Thanks very much.
Looks like X4 combined features from all popular space games, among which the most attractive ones (to me) are dynamic universe and a production-consumption economy system. And the new map-based menu allows us to play as a fleet commander like in other RTS games or trading sim games.

Hopefully it won’t be riddled with bugs at launch.xenapior wrote:Thanks very much.

Can't be perfect without Borons!
Imagine if, when they appear, they're technologically and militarily more advanced than the split.
After being harassed by the split for years, they used the Great Gate Shutdown to almost completely devote themselves to building up their strength with both stronger fleets and defenses.
The harmless squid are harmless no more.

Thats when the game of the year edition is worth getting with all dlc included in one nice package. Bad news is it will take a year or two till all the dlc is out.Crimsonraziel wrote:Karvat wrote:This game will be perfect, and much more once the DLCs will have been released

I'm talking about the Gamescom video.CBJ wrote:Right, apart from a couple of lengthy live streams, a formal Q&A session and several informal ones here on the forum, a couple of videos like this one and various screenshots.LittleBird wrote:A lot of talk but you have not shown ANYTHING!.
It's all about talk but not a single mechanic was shown. This bothers me a lot. Like I said this situation is very similar to X-Rebirth where you hid the true status of the game.
What do you think looks this now?
Show the game not just pretty graphics. Regain your trust you have lost with X-Rebirth and do not hold back anymore.
Ich bin für die Einführung von Ironie- und Sarkasmustags.

We have shown detailed game mechanics on several occasions, and discussed several more of them in various Q&A sessions. This is a promotional video made to coincide with Gamescom, introducing the game quickly to people who might not know it, so of course it doesn't go into that level of detail. We are not "holding back" and most people seem to think we are doing exactly what you are asking for. Sorry if that's not enough for you.

I think you should be more reasonable here, and lower your expectations a bitLittleBird wrote: I'm talking about the Gamescom video.

Because this game has enormous potential, BUT in the showcase the content was not bug free, or polished at all (ugly explosions, clipping (like the chair in the interior clipping through the table, shadows flickering everywhere, not amazing ai pathing, bad bullet impacts, very bad graphic performance overall)
And it will be probably like this at launch, and it was always like that for every previous X game
This new game though, has extremely solid basis, intuitive and advanced UI, very good AI overall, extremely deep mechanics and vast personalization
So the fact is:
Do you prefer to miscredit the game and hope it bombs, so the developers won't have the fundings necessary to expand and polish their concept
Or do you want to be patient and give them your trust, because they are dedicated developers that are always willing to support their game for years after launch

So added up, these are almost 5 hours long presentations detailing nothing, BUT PURELY THE GAME MECHANICS. Good job with your narrow field of view, though.
I'm trying not to 'whiteknight' for Egosoft, but you are posting so unreasonable opinions, it's unreal.

Comparing Egosoft PR of X4 to PR of X-Rebirth is simply absurd.
There was nearly no data on X-Rebith other than dozen screenshots and two sevaral minute trailers.
For X4 you have several hour long live streams, huge Q&A sessions on Forum, screenshots, small trailers - we know much more about X4 several month before its release than we knew about X-Rebirth a day before release.
