Lol.

You know, I'm getting pretty sick of both camps.

I'm one of the "I enjoy the game in between bihourly crashes, despite the severe problems".

Pretending that they are the product of wanting X4, or even worse, that they don't exist is getting really frustrating.

The UI is appalling.

The bugs make it unstable.

The AI needs work (I spend half an hour getting attacked by PMC, return fire once and the sector turns on me).

Escorting your freighters is a joke. I genuinely wouldn't mind the "you can only have one ship" part of it (I spent most of AP in the one ship (griffon), same for TC (vidar)). What I do mind is doing all of the work for the freighter, including flying to and from each station, from your ship and issuing all of the orders yourself. This isn't just micro management, it's quantum management. I hear that you get to hire someone to do the work later into the game, but I only allow it two crashes before taking a few hours of break to let the frustration bleed off.

Then there's the "let's play hide and go seek with the traders/staff" aspect of the game.

The lack of information is killer.

I'm not pretending the game is without merit, stop pretending it's without fault.

I fully understand Ego intention to create something new and applaud that as any gamer would.

However, if you buy any consumer product you have the expectation that it should be in full working order, and as described, straight out of the box.

If u buy a microwave, you wouldnt be prepared to wait 3 months for the door to be delivered would you ?

So while i appreciate the modding potential Gazz mentioned, surely it should at least be functional and contain the features as described, at the point of sale!
You can buy a microwave from any one of a dozen companies.

When it comes to a space sim like X, there's been one company that's done it right so far, that's it. Yes, they really dropped the ball this time. But where to from now? There's no other 'microwave' vendor available!

I think that's hugely wishful thinking for many reasons (hey, didn't X Rebirth look great before release? Who's to say Star Citizen will get it right?) but I'll rest my case on this one; I have only ever seen one MMO that was worth a damn in terms of physics, and that was a racing game (Test Drive Unlimited).

On the other hand, I've seen many an MMO seemingly show huge promise in everything from Age of Sail cannon fire combat (Pirates of the Burning Seas) to space combat (Eve Online) only to find that the finished product was not only ruined because of the arcadey gameplay needed for the mainstream and the the abstract cannon fire statistics it was driven by that just plain didn't cut it for deeper simulation, but that they were also letdowns in many other ways.

To think an MMO like Star Citizen will be a replacement for X, when every single space game in the past has failed to be, is wishful thinking given how important basic projectile physics are to a simulation like X and how high a load these place on a server making them impractical for an MMO.

And the idea that Star Citizen can be BOTH a good MMO and offline game with proper physics is even more ludicrous.

So I'm not holding my breath, especially after how good Rebirth seemed before launch.
