No news is also news.

You know, we may just create tweeter account "X: Rebirth" and post "No news yet" each new day.

WOW some good news about game for a change :o
"News?"

I'm pretty sure this is the same thing CBJ has said every time he comments on development progress.

Any news is better than no news
In all fairness as nice as that is to hear, and appreciated (thanks CBJ), it's not actually any news.

Whether we have reached a given point in the development cycle is not "derivative" information. Answering the specific question I was asked would be tantamount to giving out a release date, which is very definitely something I cannot do. And yes, I take my NDA seriously, as, I hope, does everyone else who has signed it.

As for your extrapolation of the statement that development is continuing and going well to mean that the game is "vapourware", you are either trolling or insinuating that I am lying, neither of which are appreciated.

The Egosoft model of how they promote their product is starting to remind me of Blockbuster video and now Best Buy. It’s a dying business model and needs to change or I foresee this being the last X game from Egosoft. Sorry but we live in the world where social interaction is now the norm and everyone needs to know everything at any time. Look at the PS4, it’s like a twitter and facebook paradise. Look at USPS, they now offer tracking for all their shipments since they were going bankrupt and losing business to even more expensive competitors like UPS and FedEx because people want to know where there stuff is.

You can’t just keep your (small) customer base in the dark about a product and don’t even hype it up. Every game that I know I want to buy in 2013 already has a steam page, kick-starter page, or something associated with it keeping the potential buyers interested and up to date. Heck hardly anyone I know has even heard of the X series and of course they never heard of X:Rebirth since it’s totally in the dark. Sorry guys but you got to get with the times. If you can’t pay ONE person if your department to post a little one line updates with pictures from time to take which takes around .0001 man hours each week then obviously you don’t even have the funds to finish this game or make it of any value. This is starting to remind me of that Jumpgate Evolution MMO. Funny how that one turned out.

Didn't you even read the posts in the last page or two?

It's not about anyone having the time to post updates. Deepsilver will not allow anyone at Egosoft to give out any information. Full stop, end of story.

I guess that includes deep silver themselves seeing as how they do not even have the inclination to put a link to the game in any of their sites except for the german.

If any of you are near england or germany, why don't you just call deepsilver and ask about the status of the game from them, you won't get it from egosoft.

At the same time, ask if they actually have this ridiculously strict NDA with egosoft.

You know it's a marketer's huge success when they manage to pass things that really aren't X as X. It's remarkable how people actually believe in things such as companies sharing stuff in some sort of "social interaction", full disclosure being the norm etc.

The reality is, big companies simply make huge advertising campaigns that make you forget how scarce the information was prior to the campaigns. For example, take Blizzard. Prior to the first beta versions of Heart of the Swarm, you had totally no information on it other than "it'll be ready when it's ready".

It's easy to do full disclosure once you have the product in an almost final stage and you're able to estimate how much time is needed for completion. It's totally different to do that with a product that's in alpha stages and might change everything or most of the features before release. Again, take StarCraft 2 - google about its early beta stages and you might be surprised how totally different the product looked back then - and how completely nothing of that data leaked out until they were ready to show the final beta and could provide the old screenshots as a sort of "nostalgia trip".

Is there a legitimate reason for your condescending demeanor?

Egosoft is attempting to produce a product that will not appear unfinished, nor one that will dissapoint "fans", and you are getting your jimmies rustled over an NDA?

I understand your desire for updates, however perhaps release day is closer than you predict.

100 pages ~ 15 posts per page... is 1500 questions all stonewalled.

I am just trying to help people at this point from either wasting their time, or by getting to actual information.

Obviously egosoft will not budge from their position and they keep blaming everything on mean ol Deep Silver. Fine... call Deep Silver. Verify their information.

I help people for a living... and when I see something like this happening... its as simple as breathing to expose any BS that is going on, a year ago, I had all the patience in the world. That has been used up.

So, please clarify; who do you want to play the "evil empire" here? Egosoft, or Deep Silver?

I appreciate that you are trying to "help" the users of this forum, however do not criticize Egosoft (or Deep Silver, for that matter) for failing to release information and causing said users to "waste time" on these forums, when you (and I) do not know if the information that could be released is something we have not seen before.

I fear that the game will make for consoles. This means simplified gameplay, simplified management and micromanagment, simplified story, reducing the quantity and quality of texts in the game ... the whole game is focused on the consoles will not be that game that I would like to purchase

Stop imaging things. There is no evil empire... their are just simple direct straightforward questions about a game on a forum about that game that company representatives refuse to answer.

Instead of answering, they deflect the question (oh its coming), or blame Deep Silver (NDA) for an inability to accurately/completely answer the question.

Well after a year of this same stalling tactic... it appears its time to determine if this is vapourware or not.

If the game is going to be released on console, it will likely be ported from PC to said console, due to the game being developed for PC preceding consoles.

This means nothing, they push these dates all the time.

I have seen retailers in england taking preorders of games that still are not released a year later.

Hmm,

Seems to be rather a lot of rage here for something that is, in fact, quite common. Many game studios "trailer" there games several years in advance, and many refuse to release any significant information prior to 4-6 months before launch.

Usually fan discussions on fora are a bit more constructive.

I suspect it was a mistake to announce the game early and not be able to deliver, and that they have now learned that lesson.

My advice to all is chill, and do something more useful with your time - youo won't get it back again. :)

I REALLY hope that's not correct.

CBJ can you answer if the game will be released before December?

CBJ can you answer if the game will be multiconsole?

I can tell you that, as with all other retailer release dates you may see at the moment, that is wild guesswork rather than insider information. Remember that retailers just want you to place a pre-order, and that in general asking people to place pre-orders for something without at least some kind of placeholder date doesn't work terribly well.

I can also tell you that the game is currently PC only. And don't read too much into that "currently"; I just don't have a crystal ball with sufficient fidelity to make me 100% confident in saying that it could never happen.
